Police arrested 26 young people during a disturbance at Eastpoint Mall on Sunday night after a carnival at the Baltimore County shopping complex was shut down.
Sometime before 6 p.m., Jolly Shows Spring Carnival and mall officials made the call to close the carnival for the evening, Baltimore County police spokesman Shawn Vinson said at a news conference at the scene Sunday.
Mall ownership did not immediately return a request for comment Monday. A message left with Jolly Shows was not immediately returned Monday.
Carnival officials were overwhelmed by the number of people that were trying to get in, Vinson said. After the carnival was shut down, a crowd of about 1,000 people made its way through the mall parking lot and into neighborhoods, he added.
Police received several calls about the disturbance around 6 p.m., Vinson said, and about 50 officers from Baltimore County and state police responded.
Some fights broke out, Vinson said, and the 26 people who were arrested were charged as juveniles with disorderly conduct. Vinson said there were no injuries.
By 9 p.m., groups of teenagers could be seen getting ride-sharing services and boarding buses to leave the area. Vinson said the Maryland Transit Administration brought buses to help disperse the crowd. The scene was largely clear by 9:30 p.m., with just the large police presence blocking off some roads leading to the mall.
He said the mall is expected to open as usual Monday.
The carnival was scheduled to end Sunday night at 11 p.m., according to Jolly Shows website.

The whole situation is pretty spooky.
It's by the same party that gave us Jim Crow, the KKK, union violence, and mass exterminations in the form of abortion.
And if you trace their ideology back to socialism and communism, you have millions of additional lives lost in Europe and Asia.
All for the socialist promise of having the government provide everything for you, AKA free stuff.
creating a mind set early that black teens or blacks in general can behave badly and get away with it because of what they are.
pretty much... 8^)
Now that’s funny.
I grew up in trendy Brooklyn in the late 50’s through ‘67. White, low income, poor public schools, Ben Franklin. Safe if you were street smart, and stayed away from Fairfield etc. Got out just as I was getting into trouble. Now, burbs in VA. All is well. Baltimore, never goin’ back.
Lets see,....bus in a bunch of criminal teens to create havoc in a mall. Regular “normal” people stop going to mall and stores close down. Mall closes down. The left secretly grins and say... “mission accomplished”.
Two things that bother me........The Dutch and Carnies.......they smell like cabbage and have small hands...... -Austin Powers
Live. Work. Shop.... Dundalk.
Hampden and Hamilton - hate filled neighborhoods? I dont think so.
Du Burns killed the east side when he gave vouchers to those living in the projects and told them to go live anywhere in the city.
Let me guess...
A carnival? In a mall?? In Baltimore???
What were they thinking????
Never went to Hampden during my four year stay in Balto, but did have an opportunity to visit last year during Thanksgiving. And, to your point, it's a vibrant and upscale community of millennials surrounded by ghetto, save Roland Park and JHU.
The city had been lost for decades once I happened along, but I heard endless stories of what a great city it was just a few decades earlier. The last decent mayor was Bill Schaefer, or so I am told. If nothing else, he was a real character and could always be counted on providing a memorable comment.
Alas, B'more is a lost city that will only get worse. People will point to the gentrification of places like Canton and Fells Point as examples of progress, but this is just wishful thinking. These Oases of young and stupid white people are surrounded by mean scag ghettos that will never get better.
As long as everybody else laughed, I laughed too!
Awhile back I watched a clip on Red Foxx and it was so sad what the IRS did to him. It definitely contributed to his death.
