What is a Social Security Gun Ban? Anyone on social security can’t have guns?
If so, there is absolutely no way that is constitutional
Any SS recipient, who has a 3rd party designated to receive their SS check, is ASSUMED to be incompetent and unable to manage their affairs and the following assumption is that they should not own a gun.
This is the automatic assumption and no allowance was made for individual circumstance. And if memory serves, there was no way to restore gun rights or to have a hearing prior to the loss of the rights.
IIRC, it banned those who had a third party helping manage their finances
so, that could mean any retiree who uses an accountant
I had to look it up myself. It's like this:
it tried to prevent gun ownership by people on the Social Security disability rolls who use a representative payee to help with their finances.
One notes the complete absence of those two little words "Due process". As usual.

Had to do with a check on any Soc.Security recipient with mental problems. A narrow group but a limit on the right to bear arms.
Like the Red Flag where any man’s spiteful ex wife or ex girlfriend can call in a phony threat report (he is unstable, I think he’s nuts and dangerous....)and the authorities will confiscate his guns for months while a final court ruling finishes a long time later. Also, the man could get a felony rap if the feds break in and he shoots or punches them in the dark, assuming it’s local “teens” ready to rob and kill him in bed.

The big point was if you were declared disabled and someone else had financial responsibility for you, Obama considered you too disabled to have a gun and you were put on the prohibited list. But many people used that to let their kids run their finances for convenience rather than mental incapacity.
