Trump to nominate Shanahan as permanent defense secretary: sources

President Trump is expected to formally nominate Patrick M. Shanahan to be his permanent defense secretary as soon as next week, two administration officials tell Fox News. This, after an internal Pentagon investigation concluded that the acting defense secretary did not show any bias in favor of his former employer, aerospace giant Boeing.

Shanahan worked at Boeing for over 30 years before coming to the Pentagon as then-Defense Secretary Jim Mattis’s deputy at the start of the Trump administration.

Shanahan’s nomination had been held up by the White House since the Pentagon inspector general opened an investigation into Shanahan’s conduct following a report in Politico days after taking over for Mattis alleging Shanahan called Boeing-rival Lockheed Martin’s advanced F-35 program “f—ed up” and said the company didn’t know how to run a defense program following years of cost overruns and delays to the fifth-generation fighter jet.

Would a border wall be an example of permanent defense?

I can see it now: The Rats will vote against him because “He doesn’t accept trangenders”.

Mike Shanahan?

The former Denver Broncos head coach that won two titles with John Elway, Terrell Davis and anti-Trumper Shannon Sharpe?

A quick glance at Wikipedia says that this guy was up to his neck in the Boeing commercial airliner development programs in the 2010 timeframe. I would expect him to get grilled pretty hard about the airliner issues because it’s something dems can attack him on so they will.

I’m sure you’re right. Being he’s a nominee by President Trump they’d find something if it wasn’t that though.

I wouldn’t mind Harold Snepps being Defense Secretary either.

man’s got head on straight:

“I wrote an equation today: Success equals the alliance plus the commitment plus leadership.”

“..a military solution is not what Libya needs.”

(directed at Japanese minister:) “Q: Minister, are you afraid that the Chinese are going to find the F-35 before your forces or U.S. forces?
SEC. SHANAHAN: I told him no.”

had to post this somewhere- but tonight someone on fox laid out a pretty convincing argument for why democrats refuse to close the border- they claim, without any proof at all, that people coming here illegally are ‘escaping climate change’ in their part of the country- claiming that they are ‘climate change refugees’

and the left feel that the US, because of our refusal to sign onto the Paris deal, are the ones driving climate change, and therefore we have an obligation to allow anyone and everyone to enter the US because our lack of action on climate change has caused problems world wide-

For those who think that climate change isn’t a massive control issue- here’s proof that it is- control and money- The left now blame EVERYTHING on climate change, and on the US for not paying trillions of dollars to combat- The UN is accusing us of causing climate refugees-

climate change is the club that will beat everyone into submission in the not too distant future- and it is my belief that it will be a tool of the anti-Christ who will force everyone to comply with massive climate change regulations, taxes, and fines, crippling them financially- causing them to have to turn to the government just to get relief- then eventually forcing them to get the mark, just to be able to purchase enough fuel to heat homes in winter, fuel to drive to work, electricity allotments etc- but that is another issue-

the main issue for now is that the world is pushing for compliance- and getting pretty bold and brash about it too- When this whole climate change crap began really taking root several years ago- when the left really began pushing it- I saw this crap coming- The writing was on the wall- it’s just astonishing how rapidly the world has fallen for this lie- this utter nonsense

“...alleging Shanahan called Boeing-rival Lockheed Martin’s advanced F-35 program “f—ed up” and said the company didn’t know how to run a defense program ...”

So... how’s that heavy lift rocket going? Or that tanker program? We won’t mention the 737 Max.

Good thing it wasn’t Mike Shanahan, that guy never was good with defense.

Jeff Fisher is looking for work. He was better at defense. Just terrible at offense.
