I received a Republican National Committee Congressional District Census. They had 20-30 questions. Fancy word for a poll and a plea for money.

I called the phone number on the form. I told him I don’t give to political parties. Got the usual blah blah blah, then he said we had to do something to defeat Doug Jones.

I was triggered.

I went off on the guy. Told him the first thing he needed to do was call Mitch McConnell and tell him to keep his butt out of Alabama. Told him McConnell was the reason Jones won because McConnell started all the mess with his underhanded tricks.

Some insight on Alabama voters here.

Alabama is basically a conservative state, politics wise. There are some EXTREMELY socially conservative voters. There are some socially liberal but politically conservative voters.

Most conservative Democrats left the Democratic party and vote with the GOP now. These are not RINOs, they are smaller government, moderate to conservative Democrats who got fed up with the Dems and left them for the GOP.

Moore has a strong appeal because he fights for foundational principles. People in Alabama recognize the value of religious foundation. The Ten Commandments Judge fought the Federal Government over the monument. That is why Moore still has support in Alabama. Moore would win 30% of the vote against anyone, GOP or Democrat.

But I don’t think he will win a statewide race against a Dem. The dirty tricks will eat him alive.

I don’t know of any skeletons in Brooks closet. However, if he ran, McConnell and the GOPe would attack him in the primary because Brooks is WAAAY more conservative than what they want.

The Democrats have turned Senate elections into games of character assassination. If you aren’t willing to play dirty and trash your adversary, you will likely lose. That is probably why Brooks decided to not run.

DC needs more female Conservatives.

DC needs more Conservatives. We don't need candidates based on identity politics.

Alabama is the most conservative state in the union, with Ole Miss running second. Ole Miss is the most Christian state with Bama coming in 2d. I read that in an article some months back.

True, though when some groups don’t see their kind represented, they presume that said party isn’t interested in them. Half the problem we have with Black voters is that because there are so few Black GOP officeholders, they make the assumption Republicans are “racist.” Increasing their numbers will invalidate these phony arguments.

Fair point, unless Birmingham turns out at 300% or something again. Even with that, Jones should lose.

Too bad, would have been my first choice. But if it’s Bryne it’s Bryne.

Old man Moore needs to jump in a lake along with anyone stupid enough to support him again. When I was a little kid I took a fork and stuck it in an electrical socket. I did not do it a second time.

If necessary the President needs to go there and have a defcon 5 rally against Moore. Give him a choice he can be appointed Special Envoy not requiring Senate confirmation to the Bahamas or he get humiliated.

I thought he had some health issues in last year or two. Prostate cancer? Haven’t heard since that . . . took some time off for treatment.
