BAUTA, Cuba (AP) — Just after 8 a.m., Pura Castell got in line behind about 100 other people waiting for a chance to buy frozen chicken legs. For two hours she leaned on her cane watching people leave the state-run market with their 5-pound limit.
The chicken ran out at 10 a.m. while the 80-year-old Castell still had 20 people in front of her. She returned the next morning, but no chicken. Then, relief. A neighbor told her that chicken had arrived at the government store that distributes heavily subsidized monthly food rations. Her household of three was due three pieces, either thighs or drumsticks.
“I’ve taken care of myself my whole life,” said Castell, a retired janitor. “I don’t just sit on my hands. I’m worn out but I walk all over town.”

I had a Cuban-American friend, who told me of his uncle in Cuba.
The uncle once waited for hours in line for his meat ration. When he finally got near the front, they closed the door on the truck, and announced that they had no more. He had seen that there was quite a bit still inside, and spoke out loudly, complaining. He was hit from behind, and woke up in jail, already having been sentenced to ten years.
Some time after he was released, he tried to escape in a home-made raft, and was lost at sea.

I say invite the Cubans to come here. They’re productive people who love America. A nice counterweight to the people coming here from Mexico, Honduras, etc.

The “news” article states that Trump’s admin is pushing Cuba to this “crisis”. Bull crap. The Cuban communists have exported some 20K members of the Cuban Army TO Venezuela and they are in the Federal police uniforms of Venezuela. This was in exchange for oil— which can no longer be exported by Venezuela due to them getting rid of the producers of oil and those who know how to keep the equipment running. So— no oil to cuba.
That’s one.
Then there is the incredible statement about the lowered production of nickel. Nickel is mined (and purchased by) by a Canadian company who hire the cuban miners from.... the Cuban communist government— at a nickel (literally that valuation) a day. The Canadians pay Cuba for the nickel, as well as the labor to get it— and then they ship it to their customers... Canadian customers and Canadian refiners. This is pure slavery of the cuban citizens trapped in the nickel mining racket started by Fidel and Raul Castro and being continued by Raul.
Someone should determine how much money (and bullion) is in the Banco de Cuba in Spain and in Switzerland— this is where the private accounts of the Castros has accumulated their “skim off” of the essentially “free” labor of the cuban people. Which is why democrats love them— including Jimmah Cahtah who was “impressed” with Fidel. Being management of course of a Communist Caribbean Island Gulag.
This is living proof of the failure of central govt. planning, communism/socialism. The money runs out (always someone else’s money and/or commodities— and bingo== end of the economy because there is NO trade the govt. does not control. Period.
It's not the people, they need help. It's the government and the people are helpless to do anything about it.........
