Republicans in Washington are dead set against Judge Roy Moore being the party’s Senate nominee in Alabama next year and say they will do whatever is possible to prevent that from happening.

Moore is expected to announce a decision soon on whether to challenge Sen. Doug Jones (D-Ala.), a top Republican target, and a new poll shows him leading a field of possible GOP Senate candidates.

He admitted to dating teenagers. I raised two daughters and there is no way I would have let a 30 something man "date" one of my daughters. The guy is a creep.

Different culture and different time. As someone posted Above, nobody said anything about Elvis dating that 14 year old. Nobody said anything about 39 year old Jerry Seinfeld dating that 17 year old.

We have selective outrage in our national media. If they like someone, nothing is said. If they hate them with great passion, dating teenagers is beyond the pale.

As I have pointed out when this topic has come up before, Moore went to Vietnam to serve his country, and by the time he came back, the women his own age were married. He pursued a law degree and graduated, and as was normal in his culture in the not so distant past, when he felt he had the financial means to take care of a wife, he started looking for one.

As he was a religious man, he wanted to find an unsullied woman, and so where was he going to find one of those?

People do not understand these deeply religious people. I've known enough of them in my life to understand how they think and why they think the way they do.

Moore was looking for wife material, and he didn't want a retread. This didn't leave him many options.

The Supreme Court is far more important then Roy Moore’s political ambitions!

Did Roy Moore ever win a landslide election in his life after his first election to the Alabama Supreme Court?

Why doesn't that one count? He even had the entire Alabama judiciary taking out full page ads in the major Alabama newspapers urging the people to vote for the Democrat, and Moore still won!

4. Ran again for Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court in 2012. Won by less than four points.

And if you had bothered to check ( I did) you would have found that he won by the same margin as the other down ticket Republican candidate for statewide office. I may be mistaken, but I think he won by nearly the same margin that Richard Shelby managed in 2010, and he had the entire Alabama Judiciary pulling for the Democrat!

Before the lying smears happened, I saw polls claiming he was leading Jones by 25 points. You may not remember the time, but I certainly do. Moore was slated to win massively, and then lying bitch Stephanie McCrummen dragged up the drug addict, suicidal kook bitches to make accusations against Moore from nearly 40 years ago, and the entire national media worked hard every day to amplify these accusations.

I honestly wonder if the guy would simply state that 99% of the Federal government is unconstitutional, and then refuse to vote on almost ANYTHING in the U.S. Senate.

That is not so far fetched that I will dismiss it. I would think not, but Moore is very rigid in his ideas. People with strong religious beliefs can indeed be just that stubborn.

In any case, I think he should not run. I think the media has savaged him too badly, and whether or not he was a bad candidate before, he is likely a bad candidate now.

I would have voted for him last time around, just to thrwart the Democrats, but his time is past. As you sayd — he couldn’t even win in Alabama last time!

He is a fruitcake.

So is Trump, at least that's what all the media and all the celebrities keep telling us.

But I think for myself. How about you?

At this point, this is just an ego trip for the guy. I don’t know if what they said about him was true but, clearly he is toxic at this point. That’s just want somebody that we can win with.

Agree, but that does not speak to the manner in which he was cheated out of a seat by the national lying media and backstabbing Republican officials like Richard Shelby, whom actually cost us that election.

I would prefer that Moore stay out, but that does not mean I do not empathize regarding the wrong that was done to him.

Again, so is Trump, according to the lying sources that accused Moore.

Do you believe them about Trump? How about Brett Kavanaugh? If not, why would you believe them about Moore?

Every day.

If so, then I find it strange that you are parroting the crap the media has put forth. This sounds more like someone who goes along with what they've been told rather than finding out the facts themselves.

“Well they aren’t, and neither are you. Moore is correct on the law, and the Federal Judge @$$hole is absolutely wrong.”

Moore is a looser, but you can get your lips back on his backside if you don’t care about your country! Moore running for the Senate seat again guarantees it stays RAT. It that what you really want?

My opinion of Moore has little to do with the accusations. He is a self absorbed showboat and would not be the reliable vote you think.

Thanks for this reply. As you said, a different time, a different culture.

I have a very good friend who is 90 and a WWII vet. His wife was 16 when he married her after he was discharged. They were married for over 60 years. He is still alive, and also still preaching.

1. It was 19 years ago.
2. If he did a good job in that elected position, his future margins of victory should have gotten WIDER, not narrower.

And if you had bothered to check ( I did) you would have found that he won by the same margin as the other down ticket Republican candidate for statewide office.

Fair enough. But he was surely the only candidate in any of those races with serious name recognition from his prior background in Alabama.

Romney won Alabama by 22 points in 2012. I don't think a single GOP House candidate got less than 63% of the vote in any of the GOP districts (one guy even ran unopposed). A four-point margin under these circumstances is highly suspect, in my humble opinion.
