GOP leaders dead set against Roy Moore in Alabama
The HIll ^ | April 18, 2019 | Alexander Bolton

Republicans in Washington are dead set against Judge Roy Moore being the party’s Senate nominee in Alabama next year and say they will do whatever is possible to prevent that from happening.

Moore is expected to announce a decision soon on whether to challenge Sen. Doug Jones (D-Ala.), a top Republican target, and a new poll shows him leading a field of possible GOP Senate candidates.

Isn’t it about time he rode off into the sunset? Mo Brooks, please.

Yes! Because what we need right now more than anything else is the loss of yet another reliable House Seat! That's the ticket.

I acknowledge he was wronged but a replacing Ginsberg with a reliable conservative vote is more important then Roy Moore!

Agree.

As a judge of a lower circuit you don’t get to pick and choose what statutes you wish to follow from the upper courts.

These were not "statutes". In fact, the ruling by the Federal judge conflicted with actual statutes passed by the Alabama legislature.

These were dictatorial nonsense rulings imposed by idiot Liberal Judges of the Federal judiciary, and they were legally incorrect, and demonstrably so.

That my friend is what we call judicial tyranny and if I’m not mistaken what most around here bemoan about incessantly.

You are on the wrong side of this. The judicial tyranny is the crap Federal judges impose on states that don't want it. Moore stood up to this. Most judges just cower in fear and order the will of the Federal judge be done.

I think one of the rulings from the Federal tyrants was regarding making the state of Alabama force f@ggot marriage on the people of Alabama, and in direct contradiction to Alabama statutes which prohibited it.

No matter how you shake it dating teenagers is pedophilia plain and simple and it’s utterly disgusting and to support it is disgusting too.

Unless it's Jerry Seinfeld or Elvis Presley, or too many other celebrities dating teenagers to keep track of.

At least in the culture from which Moore emerged, it wasn't unusual at all.

Perhaps you should learn more about old time America and marriage ages for the last century or more.

Why don’t you let the voters decide, and embrace their decision? I do think the tipping point about that happened with the Democrats, with Donna Brazille stealing debate questions for hillary.

I have seen no credible allegations of voter fraud.

I have long articulated the position that deliberate manipulation of the voters by false or misleading media stories is both the worst and most common occurrence of voter fraud.

Media lying is constantly interfering with elections. You know it. I know it. We all know it.

That seat should be an easy hold. The Dems didn’t even field a candidate a few years ago.

I've known a lot of old people that told me of the vast differences in ages between husbands and wives of times long ago.

In older times, a man wanted to be able to support a wife before he sought one, and this generally meant he had to work for many years to have enough to afford taking a wife. This often resulted in men in their 30s marrying women in their teens.

Among the very religious people of America in older times, a man wanted a woman who hadn't "been around." Many people don't understand this mindset nowadays.

It's alien thinking to them.

He didn’t just lose. He caused 685,000 (!!!!!!) Alabama Rs to stay home who had voted for Shelby just 12 months earlier. This is an astounding feat of voter turnoff.

No, I think he won, I think the vote was rigged. No way Alabama was going to give Trump a democrat to make problems, rather than Moore a great Trump supporter. Moore is held in great affection among many of the GOP base, everywhere, and especially in Alabama.

FRAUD, and only FRAUD put Jones in the senate. Moore won that race, and he won it huge. The establishment RINOs did not want him, so they made sure the election was rigged. Do you remember that the paper record was destroyed within hours of the election so there could be no recount? There was also fractional voting — that screams rigged voting machines. Why do we let the left and the RINOs do this to us? We have winning candidates who resonate with the voters, the establishment uniparty cheats, and we accept the lie that we have run a losing candidate over and over again!

I have long articulated the position that deliberate manipulation of the voters by false or misleading media stories is both the worst and most common occurrence of voter fraud.

With all due respect, that's ridiculous.

You're assuming that voters are a collective group of angelic people who are so naïve and innocent that they must never, ever be misled.

Baloney. The media have no qualms about lying to voters because most voters are just as flawed, deceptive and self-centered as any of the candidates are. They only hear what they want to hear, and spend much of their lives lying to themselves anyway. That's called the human condition.

We live in a free country, and the antidote for false or misleading media stories is a vigorous defense of the truth. Roy Moore lost in 2017 because he was incapable of defending himself in a way that convinced voters he was a victim of a public smear campaign.

Go back and see how Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh defended themselves -- on national television, no less. How hard would it have been for Roy Moore to spend an hour or two taking a lesson from those two, and mounting a vigorous defense of himself? He couldn't even do THAT -- and I suspect it was simply because he was a lazy, inept political candidate who was in way over his head and didn't have a clue about how to run a serious campaign.

If you have any evidence of fraud in that election, please present it here. Otherwise, you’re just a delusional Hillary-like mental case who simply can’t accept losing an election.

“It is very depressing to me that “Conservatives” mock and condemn Roy Moore, but they support Donald Trump, who has previously bragged on dozens of occasions about his own womanizing.”

worth repeating.

I will let the voters decide, but I have no obligation to "embrace" their decision.

The primary race for that Senate election is more than a year away. Am I not allowed to discuss it here on Free Republic, in the meantime?
