Roy Moore, who lost a 2017 Senate race after a string of claims of sexual misconduct with teenage girls, is running for the seat again in 2020 in what could become a rematch against the Democrat who beat him.
Moore, 72, told a gathering of grassroots Republicans in Alabama this weekend that he will announce his candidacy in a matter of weeks, the Washington Examiner reported.
If he wins the GOP nomination, he would face Democratic Sen. Doug Jones, who is considered one of the most endangered Democrats in the Senate.

Moore is sick.
Jones wins reelection anyway.
The AL GOP becomes too divided and splintered.
Former AL Gov. Bob Riley would be good.
Please pick Riley. Please.
Trump picking Sessions was a BIG error as AG.
Don’t tell Bannon!
Let it go, Judge, fair or not fair, you’re damaged goods.
Why not get a teaching certificate and be a Dean or Provost at a nearby Law College? That’s pretty dignified. Right?
Roy Moore is OUR glass of water!
As someone else pointed out on another thread there is no way Moore avoids a runoff, and after last time no way he wins it. So Moore can run but there is little chance he'll be the nominee.
It’s hard to be a Republican some times...
Sheesh.
Moore deserves a straight up shot for the slot, and he deserves to have Republicans support him this time, and not make robo-calls to Republicans to defeat him.
This guy was slimmed last time by both parties.
He’s a decent man who would vote with US 99% of the time.
I don’t see any down side with that reality.
Jones would not have won last time if it hadn’t been for much treachery.
Moore has a good chance at winning straight up, if he gets his own party’s support, which he damn well should.
Time to beat the Fake News and The RepublicanDemocratUniParty Establishment in one election. If elected Moore is a guaranteed non-establishment Republican that will give them hell!
Not as hard as pretending to be a conservative like so many freepers do.
This a conservative Christian owned site but I remember well the Crevo threads that insulted the very notion of Christian faith. The libertarian pot heads were among the worst.
During the special election Republican primary and primary runoff which Moore won in 2017, turnout was very low (18% for the full primary). Then turnout was relatively high for the election Moore lost to Democrat Doug Jones.
I believe the much higher turnout a regular Republican primary will bring in 2020 will make it very difficult for Moore to win the nomination again. He’ll probably make it into a runoff (hopefully against Mo Brooks), but turnout among Republicans who will not vote for Moore should doom his chances.
His solid core of supporters (about 1/4 to 1/3 of Republican voters) will not be able to pull him through again.
Riley is or will be 75 this year. Need someone younger.
He was good for his time....but his time is up.
I agree, Bush League Republicans pulled out all the stops to defeat Moore.
Sigh.
Not only is Moore damaged goods (which, like it or not, he ought to have enough smarts to know), but Mo brooks seems like an objectively better candidate anywise.
The Rats and Moore’s handlers must be hoping for a lot of Republicans to stay home in 2020 like last time.
Unfortunately for them, “last time” was in an odd December 2017 election, and our President had already whooped BJ’s wife’s obama the year before.
and if he wins..
AOC will be page 6 below the fold news..
Silver lining?
He will get the same treatment as the last election. The Republican Establishment simply will not permit his election, even if it means the use of violence or threats of violence against Moore or his immediate family. McConnell was totally behind Moore’s meltdown in the last election. Character assassination is chump-change compared to what the establishment is capable and willing to do against an “errant” candidate.
