When Leah Daughtry, a former Democratic Party official, addressed a closed-door gathering of about 100 wealthy liberal donors in San Francisco last month, all it took was a review of the 2020 primary rules to throw a scare in them.
Democrats are likely to go into their convention next summer without having settled on a presidential nominee, said Ms. Daughtry, who ran her party’s conventions in 2008 and 2016, the last two times the nomination was contested. And Senator Bernie Sanders is well positioned to be one of the last candidates standing, she noted.
“I think I freaked them out,” Ms. Daughtry recalled with a chuckle, an assessment that was confirmed by three other attendees. They are hardly alone.

This time, I think Bernie can go all the way (to the nomination). As Freeper LS pointed out in previous threads, all Bernie has to do is finish a strong number two in most of the primaries that he doesn't win outright and the superdelegates should fall his way this time.
I do think Bernie gets crushed in the general by Trump. Could be another Nixon/McGovern outcome. But the country has changed a lot since 1972.

Scary thing is many in the audience believe his drivel......
Fox did good job, but on key question re Single Payer - give up your current employer plan they blew it in my opinion.
They first asked who has employer provided.
They let those people put their hands down.
They then asked who would give up employer for single payer.
No way you can accurately count who was voting that way.
Also they briefly mentioned the mix of audience. Just left it at that.
Should have asked for show of hands. Dem - Republican - Independent.
Only way to get to know what the real mix was. As much as I despise frank luntz
he at least does his stuff that way.
Many of my younger co-workers are buying into the Bernie Sanders for Pres. idea. When I bring up the late stage disasters of Socialism, most say ‘that’s unlikely to happen in this country.’ or ‘who wrote those particular history books? Do we really know this is accurate?’.
Their schools never really taught them about it.
Or some, in this area may come from hard left families who do accept some degree of Socialism in society. The question is how much of it are you willing to accept?
Many of these people, I suspect are willing to accept anybody who President Trump disapproves of. They are still in a rebellious state of mind.
