I have been wondering for weeks just what their problems and complaints were.

Never found out what they wanted, until now.

They want to DESTROY, SMASH, BREAK everything they can, because they are evil people.

The Reign of Terror encore.

Tears my heart out. This is one of the most magnificent churches in the world. I was so lucky that I actually got to
see it, almost 20 years ago. We stood taking pictures and gazing in awe at the beauty of it, inside and out. I’m so SO sad that this is happening.

The 8th Air Force and Bomber Command of the RAF destroyed many of the German cathedrals and a number of French cathedrals as well. They have been rebuilt. Notre Dame was not touched by WWII, and now it appears that a renovation project will destroy it.

April 15, 1452...Is it in the “Bible Code”? Today is the birthday of Leonardo Da Vinci. What does this mean? What could it signify?, etc.

Very sad and troubling. My wife and I have been there and admired it’s beauty. I hope it can be restored quickly. If it’s arson, the French government can spend months trying to figure out who did it and why.

FBI has ruled out terrorism.

So has the Chicago police.

So has Pelosi.

The Notre-Dame fire and its destruction is a terrible loss to France and all of western civilization. It was built over several hundred years by devoted craftsmen who wanted to inspire people then and now to know the glory and grace of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Even non-believers were moved by the cathedral as it showed the better part of our humanity. I doubt that any attempt to rebuild it will match the original construction.

Given the widespread and prolific attacks on churches throughout France one has to guess that this is Arson and probably Mohammedan Arson

Kind of symbolic of the demise of Western civilization.

There they go, again.
Always attempting to erase the heritage of civilizations, in every case but their own.

For a peaceful religion, a good many persons must die or be threatened in order for it to bloom.

Renovation work is constant on these cathedrals, it never stops. The media is trying to portray it as something unusual and therefore likely to have caused the fire. There’s almost zero chance that this was caused by the renovations. The fact that this is Holy Week plus the recent increase in church vandalism by Muslims means that arson has to be very seriously considered. It would be my first suspicion.

I hope the hunchback of Notre-Dame is ok.
Last I heard he was swinging back and forth on the rope in the bell tower ringing out a fire alarm....

Mrs. Don O, Salvation, Nick, marshmallow, and other Catholics on Free Republic:

I am so deeply sorry that this tragedy has happened.

I know that Notre Dame is such a marvelous symbol of Catholic faith, perseverance, and history. This is a horrible thing to happen, especially during Holy Week.

I was able to visit Notre Dame Cathedral 20 years ago. It was truly beautiful, and there were worshippers who packed the church that night for Mass, right beyond the rope line of tourists.

My most sincere prayers to you and all Catholics around the world.

"The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble."

Psalm 9:9

Notre Dame fire caused by Muslims?

Just a hunch in case it rings a bell.

“Terror is not a means of imposing decision upon the enemy; it is the decision we wish to impose . . . .” Malik’s divine principal of Islamic warfare may be restated as “strike terror; never feel terror.” The ultimate objective of this form of warfare “revolves around the human heart, [the enemies] soul, spirit, and Faith.”56 Terror “can be instilled only if the opponent’s Faith is destroyed . . . . It is essential in the ultimate analysis, to dislocate [the enemies] Faith.” Those who are firm in their religious conviction are immune to terror, “a weak Faith offers inroads to terror.” Therefore, as part of preparations for jihad, actions will be oriented on weakening the non-Islamic’s “Faith,” while strengthening the Islamic’s. What that weakening or “dislocation” entails in practice remains ambiguous. Malik concludes, “Psychological dislocation is temporary; spiritual dislocation is permanent.” The soul of man can only be touched by terror. - The Quranic Concept of War.
