LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Border Patrol agents dropped off asylum-seeking migrants in New Mexico’s second most populous city for the second day in a row Saturday, prompting Las Cruces city officials to appeal for donations of food and personal hygiene items and a state medical program to seek volunteers to provide health assessments of migrants.
The migrants were being temporarily housed at a homeless shelter in Las Cruces, a city recreation center and a campus of social service agencies, city officials said in a statement.
The statement said 83 migrants arrived Saturday, following about 95 who were dropped off by the Border Patrol on Friday at the Gospel Rescue Mission homeless shelter and the Community of Hope campus.
The Las Cruces Sun-News reported Las Cruces churches for months have been providing temporary shelter to migrants released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention but that Friday was the first time that the Border Patrol vans dropped off migrants at the homeless shelter.
City spokesman Udell Vigil said Saturday that migrants could be arriving “for the next several days.”
Las Cruces is not a sanctuary city that rebuffs federal officials carrying out deportation orders.

Trump has an obligation to uphold the constitution. Letting more illegals in is a violation of that oath no matter where they are placed and it continues endangering American lives and perpetuates the “emergency” he declared.
This is bluster and jingoism at its finest (just like last weeks “Close the border” false threat)and conservatives fall for it as much as liberals (another example: during the campaign Trump used the term Criminal Hillary hundreds of times and yet, she walks free amongst us to this day).
Stop falling for propaganda and focus on the real solutions.
There are 90,000 marines sitting on their asses at Camp Pendleton wanting to engage. Why aren’t they on the border using less-than-lethal forces to make sure no unauthorized person sets foot in the US.
Proving liberals to be hypocrites is not the mission. They do it every day. The mission is to solve the problem.

The Courts have ordered him to release these people in 20 days. He’s complying with that order. But the Court never said where they had to be released.

Because that’s not the mission of the USMC. Their mission is to kill people and break things. I know. I had the privilege of calling myself a Marine back in the day. And they’re not sitting on their asses. They’re training hard every day to carry out the above mentioned task of killing people and breaking things.
I’m all in favor of Federalizing the National Guard in these states, however. And President Trump has done that. I’m also in favor of “shoot to kill” orders for anyone identified as a coyote. Drop a few of them in their tracks and they’ll get the message.
Anyone running one of those motorboats should be declared an enemy combatant and dealt with accordingly.

The military can protect the country from foreigners entering illegally, people who kill, rob, sell drugs etc. Can you show me where the military is not authorized to protect the country from invasion? Cruz ran a *horrible* campaign that was woefully mismanaged and consisted almost entirely of telling the voters “I’m Ted Cruz, you should vote for me because I’m Ted Cruz!” but had almost no ground game and had almost non-existent internet messaging.

Posse Commitatus Act and court interpretations thereof. The illegals are not an armed force, therefore the courts have ruled they are not an invasion and the military cannot generally be used unless local law enforcement specifically requests aid.

If President Trump wants to put additional troops on the border I’d be totally in favor of that. But that’s a mission that the National Guards of the States in question are far more suited for. They have the logistical capabilities and more varied skill sets which are far better suited to this particular mission.

My reading is the military can be sued to provide barriers. i have mentioned specifically less than stahl force. Also they wouldn’t be stopping asylum seekers since the seekers can go to points of entry.
I see no reason we can’t stop letting murderers and drug smuggler and human traffickers into the country and using the military to do so.
As president i would use the emergency declaration and risk impeachment to protect the country.
The problem is we are leaking like a sieve and at6 90,000 per month it is national crisis.
