I have a cell phone (my wife got it for me), I think it is in the back of one of my filing cabinet drawers.
(not really sure, haven’t seen the damn thing in two years)
Never have used it, don’t think I ever will.
If I want to talk to somebody I will use my land line or go see them face to face.
I dont have a problem with that.
I value the device I have, so I accept the potential downside to use it.
My brother-in-law wont use his either. I will say that causes my sister some difficulty when she needs to get in touch on important matters.
“Alexa, cue me Big Brother”.
FYI FIE ping ?
In USA, Television Watches You.
This is the Facebook Is Evil ping list.

Amazon/Alexia/"Smart" TVs ping also.
Noboby believed Alex Jones 10 years ago when he talked about home spyware, because he read their papers.
Then listen to all you conspiracy nuts right now, talking about the boogy man stalking you. Tinfoil hat stuff.
Alex Jones is a BAD MAN! BAD. BAD.
Sorry but I was screaming about Jones being banned day 1; I found his Newtown comments repulsive but I also knew he was targeting spyware ages ago, and if they could deplatform him , they can do it to anyone.
Just cause we’re paranoid
doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get us!
I use the Google version for music and radio. When not in use, it gets unplugged for that very reason. I do not use it for anything else.
I find know it all, free speech haters like you repulsive.
What fake news says he says is just slander.
Take your slander & book banning over to DU where you belong.
I wouldn’t be caught dead with one of those POS’s in my house.
Yeah I am getting a kick out of all the people on this thread vowing to never have one of these devices in their home because of PRIVACY while most carry around in their pocket a device that has been listening in and monitoring their searches and web surfing for years.
Do you know what the difference is between an Amazon device like Alexa and a smartphone? You can actually 100% disable an Alexa device so it cannot monitor you by disconnecting it from power and internet. A cell phone is near impossible to do so.
Those hoops you are jumping through are becoming SOP for any online retailer that deals in digital media and Amazon is one of the largest online retailers that deals with digital media. They don’t want people grabbing your name and data to sign up an account and download a bunch of digital media using stolen credit cards etc.
What the hell are you talking about?
I DEFEND Jones’s right to free speech.
You and me both.
Yeah, youre on the right track there.
You can let your battery die, wrap it in tin foil, and toss it in the cesspool.
Oops, my bad. You do defend free speech. :-)
no problem, easy misunderstanding.
