PewDiePie, the most popular personality on YouTube, has announced that his livestreams will now be exclusive to competing blockchain-based platform DLive.
According to Variety, DLive promises far better economic terms for creators than YouTube, which has been intensely criticized by most YouTube personalities over the past few years for moving away from them in favor of major corporations and television-style content.
Variety reported, Tuesday, that PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, will use DLive exclusively (for the next several months, anyway) to present weekly live-streams, and is slated to kick off his first official DLive stream on Sunday, April 14, at 10 a.m. PT. He is expected to still produce daily videos on Youtube...

Ping.
What’s Kjellberg’s schtick; his claim to internet fame?
Yawn at Pewpie content.
Pegging my “Don’t give a hoot” meter.
He needs to move off of YT. They cut 2 live feeds today who were streaming the Assange arrest. During the “white nationalist” dog and pony show they disabled chat.
Its good that virtual monopolies get some competition.
Pegging my “I was completely oblivious, wished I could remain that way, and do not care” Meter.
What if a person who came out of a twenty-year coma and read that headline.
“Wha?”
The reason things like this might be interesting in the overall picture of the culture war is that outfits like youtube, which have been actively censoring people who go against the leftist narrative, are starting to face some, for now minor, competition.
If youtube, and the other big tech companies keep cutting off their noses to spite their faces...
We need to get Paul Joseph Watson also doing something with DLive.
Disney cut him after a few of his antisemitic videos surfaced.
IIRC early this year?
Story is inaccurate. PewDewPie was #2 at the time of the switch, having just lost the #1 position to some other channel (T-something).
While I agree about this specific “personality,” I think competition will be good for Youtube, twitter, et.al., that are putting a stranglehold on dissenting streams of information and content. They are laying the foundation to suppress content for conservative voices ahead of the 2020 election. And they are blatantly open about it.
I briefly looked at DLive today, but have not had time to really dig into it.
Another content creator that I follow on Youtube had a stream deleted by Youtube last night. The streamers moved it over to twitchy. And these streamers are not politcally related at all.

His “army of 9 year olds” ...
They follow Generation ___ (I’m not even sure now).
BTW, he and the WSJ got cross-ways a while, back, a generation that doesn’t “get him” (or, more likely, represents a threat to their income stream):

Over the years I got a few hundred dollars from YouTube for instructional videos that I put up. One of my videos has 270,000 views and quite a few of the others have are around 30,000. They would put the money in my checking account every time my earnings reached $100. I was kind of expecting another deposit from them which never arrived. So I checked on the status and my account was frozen at about $80. When they changed their policies the stream of money stopped instantaneously. Most of the people who watched my videos didn’t “subscribe” to my “channel” so even though I still had quite a few views I still didn’t earn anything after the change in policy.
I didn’t have a lot of time or effort invested so it is not a big deal to me. I was surprised that they gave me money for something that was done for fun in the first place.
The Indian click farm...
Good. Hopefully more big time content creators will follow. YouTube (Google) needs a good throat punch.
Mark my words, Google et al, will go after DLive as hosting White Supremists content and move to have them shut down.
I am calling it.
