Prominent Twin Cities businessman Irwin Jacobs and his wife were found dead Wednesday in their Lake Minnetonka home in an apparent murder-suicide, according to a close friend and business associate.
Orono Police Chief Correy Farniok said officers who responded to the Shoreline Drive home shortly after 8:30 a.m. found the bodies in a bed along with a gun.

Statistically, older men who commit suicide often have a terminal illness. They just choose to die in their own timeframe.
As to why he chose to kill his wife also, he didn’t want to leave her care or the overseeing of her care to someone else. Either because he felt it was a burden or because he felt they wouldn’t do the job to his standards.
Probably the wrong thread for this, but I realized I need to itemize (still) to save large amounts on state taxes; driving me crazy, I thought I no longer needed to keep those records.

You are ‘anti-guns’ (as you said in your previous post).
You don’t think it’s okay for responsible, law abiding citizens to have a firearm, to protect themselves - and others - in congested areas?
And, guns are just for hunting or in rural areas?

It’s not an excuse. But it’s most likely the reason he killed both of them. Severely, suicidally depressed people aren’t reasonable.

No one is excusing him. With his wife since he was 19. Married 57 years. Saw her slipping away. Couldn’t deal with the loss.
Do you live in NYS? I approve of gun control laws in my state.
We have great private police lots of them. They respond in 2 min if I call them. People don’t carry guns where I live.
Where I live when your kids first started play dates, the first question parents ask is are there any guns in the house. Only people with guns are cops who live in the neighborhood.
