CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) - A State Delegate and his business are under fire after a Facebook post made after a Vigil in Huntington.

Del. John Mandt Jr, (R-Cabell) wrote in the Facebook post in part "Anything Muslim is going to be associated with Democrats. It's better to stay away than be associated with them." Mandt was talking about a vigil held in Huntington to honor the lives lost in a mass shooting in New Zealand.

"No matter your beliefs but to come out so publicly and disparagingly in the face of a vigil that was literally meant for no other reason than to give remembrance to those who were massacred," said Community Activist and former political candidate Dakota Nelson.

Mandt says he was never against the vigil itself but worried about one organization he believed would attend.

It appears that what the delegate said was misconstrued by his critics. What say you?

One of the best things about W.Va. - we can still speak the truth and not worry about getting shunned or boycotted. Stewarts has been around for generations and everybody knows what fine people the Mandts are. No matter what the SJWs do customers will still be lined up tomorrow and next week to get a bag of Stewarts' world famous dogs and a gallon of the best root beer on earth.

Yeah, they are monsters! And good too, but they don't have the history that Stewarts has. Everytime we're driving down 5th Ave my wife cringes 'cuz she knows I'm going to reach over and give her a pinch and ask her if she still remembers what we used to do in their parking lot :)
