GOP trolls ‘Georgia’ Dem over residency claims, gets her to accept gift basket at ‘real home’ in Tennessee

Georgia Democratic Rep. Lucy McBath was the target of some creative trolling by the Republican Party over her widely disputed claim that she actually lives in Georgia, after receiving and signing for a gift basket the GOP sent to her address -- in Tennessee.

McBath, a racial justice activist who defeated Republican incumbent Karen Handel in November, has been dogged with questions since the election campaign on whether she actually lives in the state she now represents.

The state’s Cobb County Tax Commissioner’s Office, which refrained from issuing a decision during the election due to appeals, confirmed last month that McBath didn’t meet the requirements to call her Cobb County home her primary residence for the three tax years leading up to the election, meaning she was a Tennessee resident when she was elected to Congress.

The Democrat Party has little regard for the law in general, and for election laws in particular.

So???

Is there a judge that is going to remove her from office? Are there any consequences to violation of the election laws? Cant her campaign be charged with fraud for fund raising for an illegal campaign?

Until something ... ANYTHING happens as a result of the Dem lies, nothing will change.

She can’t represent Georgia if she is a resident of TN.
When does this get taken to court?

I don't think a court can do anything.

Article I Section 1 says "Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members... Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behavior, and, with the Concurrence of two-thirds, expel a Member."

It's unclear if the House can simply declare the candidate unqualified by a simple majority vote, or if they must get two-thirds to expel. I'd think that expulsion is for unethical behavior, but unqualified is by simple majority.

However, would Nancy Pelosi allow such a vote or would she be willing to accept the bad press that would come from rebuffing a Georgia delegation's request to oust the Tennessean from their delegation?

First, I'd think that the Georgia delegation must declare their intention to vacate that seat. Would they step up and do that?

Is this a Trick Question? a joke by chance? The chances of Anything substantive happening are about the same as OJ Confessing. The Pretend Laws that you are dreaming about do not apply to the party of the KKK.

Sorry, couldn't resist

Recall!!!

Nope, I bet it never happens. This woman is worse than a carpetbagger, she didn't even bother to pack up the bag. She just ran on lies and false pretenses, which makes her a democrat. Democrats cheat all the time and never ever face any consequences UNLESS the cross another democrat higher up than them. Like Senator Bob Menendez criticizing Obama's Iran deal and ended up being indicted a month or two later.

Article I Section 2 Clause 1:

No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.
The double negative is confusing.

She is unconstitutional in that seat. She must be immediately discharged by the House.

You might be right. I can definitely see the Administration ignoring this and letting people see this for themselves and vote accordingly.

So, is Georgia going to go after her for tax evasion? Tennessee doesn’t have a state tax.

Since those requirements are in the Constitution, this is a matter for the Courts, not the U.S. House of Representatives.

Recall actions of House members have already been adjudicated negatively in federal courts. I short it can’t be done!

In fact its very difficult to remove a Senator or Congresscriter. Again several federal court ruling throw it all back to their respective house. I think this is right even if convicted of breaking the law, the respective house has to act to throw them out.

Didn’t she file papers to run for office in Georgia?

IF she stated that she lived in Georgia, then she falsified her information when she filed those papers.

Wouldn’t that be election fraud?

Cannot Georgia remove her from this position for such falsehoods???
