President Trumps latest 2020 campaign video was removed from Twitter Tuesday night after Warner Brothers Pictures requested it be taken down due to the use of music from The Dark Knight Rises' score in the clip.
The use of Warner Bros. score from The Dark Knight Rises in the campaign video was unauthorized, a Warner Brothers spokesperson said in a statement before the removal. We are working through the appropriate legal channels to have it removed.
The two-minute video not only utilized Hans Zimmers Why Do We Fall? from the 2012 threequel, but also shared the font used for the films title cards.
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they call you a racist. Donald J. Trump. Your vote. Proved them all wrong. Trump: The Great Victory. 2020, declared the video, using the Dark Knight Rises font.
The video also attempted to compare Trumps rise to power with the apparent poor performances of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, as well as Hollywood personalities who have been critical of the president like Amy Schumer and Rosie ODonnell.
Trump has used pop culture references to promote himself in the past, such as his Game of Thrones-style poster bearing the legend Sanctions Are Coming a play on the series Winter Is Coming catchphrase.
We were not aware of this messaging and would prefer our trademark not be misappropriated for political purposes, HBO said in a statement at the time, as well as tweeting How do you say trademark misuse in Dothraki? from its official Twitter account.
The White House also used a blockbuster-style during Trumps first meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
At the time of removal, the video had racked up more than 2.3 million views.
Seems like a pretty cut and dry copyright violation. Why would they do that?
Huuuge, lovely music!
Its within their rights to do so. (And they need to because itd they allow this without comment then courts would find anybody could use the music)
CNN sister company. What a, um, surprise.
Yes, this seems odd. Parodies and all are one thing, but using something without permission in such a manner is distracting. Hopefully a one-off.
So they are claiming guys who have guitar lessons, for example, and saying that DmSus4 chord you played is used in Pinball Wizard so the video is owned by their publishing house. One guy had another artist steal his original composition to sing over and then HE was hit with a copyright claim by them and had to give the money from his original video to them. It's nuts.
This was a huge victory for CNN. /s
Trump should use “Also Sprach Zarathustra” - the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey! originally by Richard Strauss. Only need a minute and a 1/2. Probably enough to open any event.

or
The opening to the original “Conan The Barbarian”. - “Anvil of Crom”

Though John Milius probably wouldn’t allow it!
The Richard Strauss piece would be probably the easiest to get permission to do. I am sure its in the public domain now.
If I could, I would write a score for President Trump.
My fee?
Autographed picture.
We have your back in TX
Im thinking it generates a buzz and brings more viewers to watch.
For most music if one holds the proper BMI or ASCAP license they have a cut-and-dried right to use the track.
Not so sure what the rules are for movie soundtracks.
You know the adage
Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission
This wasn’t a video created by President Trump’s campaign despite what some poor news reports claim. It was yet another “fan” video created by one of the people at https://www.reddit.com/r/The_Donald/
Thanks for the clarification.
NEW VERSION WITH DIFFERENT MUSIC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdzOv20W1T4
Ladies and Gentlemen, here is the updated video. Warner cant touch it. Please understand I am not taking credit for creating the original video. I simply replaced the audio and cleaned up the minor video errors the original creator made. https://t.co/vZpdI4co9e— Mack Jillz (@DJJackMillz) April 10, 2019
However, if 0bama wanted to use “It’s A Small World” theme Disney would fall all over themselves to approve it.
“Trump should use Also Sprach Zarathustra”
Maybe it’s because I first heard it more than half a century ago, but I would have to call it “magnificent, but done to death.”
Perhaps.....would millennials recognize it?
