This could be the reason the woman was practically begging to get arrested specifically by the secret service, it could have resulted in a serious breach of Trump's advance team and security protection details and may be the reason Trump fired the Secret Service director.

Makes me wish for the days when these clowns just cavorted with hookers. Then, they could only infect themselves with a virus.
To: edwinland
I am sure Agent Ivanovich disabled his network connection, etc., before turning his laptop into a strictly useless ‘test device’ that would never see any real Secret Service business activity again.

I have worked with the SS regarding a hack on a bank. Not the most skilled bunch.
Having said that, at some point in time, it is necessary to see what is on the USB ... by a forensic investigator and using special tools on hardened and isolated laptops.

I think this is part of the reason Trump canned the SS head. An obvious lack of proper procedures and evidence-handling protocol.
Firings will continue until performance improves.

What a moron. You know they have to have NSA geeks on call 24/7/365 for just such situations.

I am a computer moron and even I know that you do NOT ever, ever, ever insert a strange USB.
I think I’ll try to get an interview with USSS.
Unless he knew it was a secured PC, am I right?

Yet another example of Secret Service ineptitude. So happy the President has acted to replace a director who apparently had retired in place.

OK Smart Guys.
Is it possible to load the equivalent of an autoexec.bat file on a thumb drive and have it start executing without any action by the user?
The news reports infer that you can. I have my doubts.

Put it in a evidence bag, tag it, log it, initial it and let the supervisors worry about it from there. I know that one, and I’m just a retired lowly prison guard. Too smart by half, some of these fedcops.

"You know those Chinese Trojan horses that sneak into
your computer?"
"Yeah."
"And how they capture your keystrokes to send back to
hackers?"
"Oh, I hate those."
"And how the keystrokes give out passwords to your
bank accounts so the Chinese can take all your money?"
"Oh, boy, do I."
"Well, I took a thumb drive ..."
"Yeah?"
"... and stuck in into my laptop..."
"Yeah?"
"... and clicked OK on all the popups..."
"Oh, boy."
"... and now I don't have a penny to my name."
"Oh, jeez, I hate when that happens."
"Yeah, it's the pits."
