Over the last week, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the Legislature picked the pockets of city and state taxpayers with a spending plan that takes and takes, then takes some more.
They did it quietly, like assassins, with only peeps of protest. Disagreements over which taxes to raise were settled by raising them all. Such is life in a one-party town.
As a result, New York is taking a giant leap toward the promised land of democratic socialism. The cost of living here already is soaring and Albany responded by injecting a huge dose of high-octane fuel. Expect a crash landing.
The pain comes in the form of new, renewed or hiked levies on Manhattan-bound motorists, real estate, income, pharmaceuticals, paper bags and rental cars. And that’s just for starters.
The pols also put in motion a plan to spend $100 million for public financing of their campaigns, then celebrated by giving themselves huge pay hikes.
Hooray for us!

Taxes (no sales tax, small state income tax and property tax)
Crapy air

And as NYC implodes, the locusts that did the real damage to NYC will likely land there too.
That’s what they do. Destroy a place with their idiocy, bail to somewhere else in mass, destroy that place with their idiocy, repeat endlessly.
Florida was the go-to place but it’s already too far gone due to the old locusts to be tasty to the new locusts.

The yellow vest signify more than just a protest; they are part of the required gear for car owners in France (and therefore somewhat a symbol of middle class status).
In the same boat here in NJ (with ageing parents and in-laws, and also a few children in schools here); I suspect PA isn’t far enough, though. Even with Trump carrying the state, it seems PA is resembling NJ and NY more and more (being dominated by a few urban concentrations). I’ll look into it in more detail as the escape date approaches.
Very alarming how in NJ today, more and more families leave when the last child finishes high school; they used to wait until retirement...
I’ve been in Montana thirty years now. I try to relate to all the problems in other states. Really I do.

The USA really needs a strong recession to crash and flush out the parasites from bankrupt places like New York and Chicago.
Most new New Yorkers are immigrants.

definitely ... and Kshama Sawant did nearly the same kind of favor for Amazon in Seattle ... Amazon has now started the process of moving from Seattle to Bellevue ...they’re not going to move into the giant office building they built in Seattle but instead are leasing it to others ...
