Call him Patient 1: An individual in Washington, D.C., who presents with symptoms of mental decline, including a bizarre inability to remember where his own father was born.
Bandy Lee, a psychiatrist on the faculty at the Yale School of Medicine, has some insights to share, which we will get to in a moment.
On Tuesday, at a meeting with the secretary-general of NATO, President Trump launched into an impromptu riff on one of his favorite topics, the reluctance of Americas wealthy European allies to pay more toward their own defense. Then, in what might have been a clumsy effort to show no hard feelings, he expressed his love for Germany, the ancestral home of the Trump (or, originally, Drumpf) family:
My father is German, right? Was German. And born in a very wonderful place in Germany, so I have a great feeling for Germany.
Trumps father, Frederick, was born in 1905 in the Bronx, approximately 4,000 miles from Germany, as the accompanying map shows. Trumps grandfather was born in Germany, but was living in the United States with his wife when Frederick was born.

So he was mistaken about where his father was born. Looks like they have something really big on him now. Maybe impeachable?
psychiatrists that ‘diagnose’ without someone being their patient can and should lose their licenses to practice!
It is unethical for any health care professional to comment on a patient they have not personally evaluated
Probably illegal too
Any psychiatrist that makes a professional judgement about a person’s mental health before actually seeing them as a patient ought to be charged with malpractice and have their medical license revoked. It is highly unprofessional.
As Scott Adams pointed out, the simple explanation is that POTUS just misspoke and said ‘father’ instead of ‘grandfather’. Jet lag can be a bitch sometimes.
Or banged his wife.
Sounds like some of these “psychiatrists” should lose their license for medical malpractice. Then again, what do you expect from a profession that “legitimized” sodomy based on politics and not sound science ?
So he meant to say “grandfather” instead of “father”
bfd
If “psychiatrists” are this harsh on him, what do they say about Nancy Pelosi and her gaffes? That she should be committed now?
Psychiatry & psychology proving once again its not a medical science or even a science but a form of voodoo more akin to a religion or failed ideology!
so we’re trying this tact again.
That they’re trying to destroy the constitution and legally elected President of the United States with such vile and blatant attempts at a coup should prove, once and for all, that the Democrat Party MSST BE DISSOLVED. They are orchestrating an overthrow of this country for their own power grab and are a traitor to this great nation.
But it’s ok as long as they are rendering opinions about Trump.
Sarcasm.......
My pop was born in Italy.
My mom’s PARENTS were born in Sicily, not her.
DONT tell anybody but sometimes I forget and say my mother was born in Sicily!!
sorry.
Dumbass. Here we go again with the 25th Amendment bullshit.
Trump’s grandfather immigrated from Germany. It’s very common parlance to refer to his father as being German. Lots of people call themselves Irish, Italian, Scottish, Etc who have never set foot in those countries.
I keep struggling to understand how all this doesn’t eventually end in a shooting War. I sure hope it doesn’t
His fishing skills are world class. And the squawfish Democrats always take the bait.
yep
He’s the hardest working president in years, perhaps ever.
Where were all these mental experts from 2009 till 2016?
Psychiatry is a form of quackery. It has no basis in medicine, and is not a hard science. Sorry but those are just the natural facts
