70% of Wall Street thinks Trump will be reelected in 2020

A new poll of Wall Street insiders shows that a vast majority expect President Donald Trump to win reelection in 2020.

While Joe Biden was viewed as the most stock market-friendly possible Democratic candidate for the White House, more than 70% of survey respondents told global investment bank RBC Capital Markets that they expect Trump to be reelected.

"Most expect Trump to win in 2020, but there's still some nervousness around the event," Lori Calvasina, RBC's head of U.S. equity strategy, wrote to clients. Sixty-seven percent "of our March 2019 survey respondents believe that Joe Biden is seen as the most acceptable Democratic candidate by the stock market for the White House. No other candidate got a significant number of votes."

I think we need to be thinking about who comes next after Trump.

I think Trump is a one-shot deal. The establishment will take extra precautions to ensure that they are never blindsided by another Trump again. At least through the established parties. Also, Trump was one in a million. I think there are only a handful of people in the WORLD who could withstand what Trump went through during and after the 2016 election cycle.

If we are to get another "rogue" non-establishment president, it will probably have to come from a non-party candidate and that will be very tough to do. Even when Perot got 20% of the vote in 1992 as an independent, he came away with zero electoral votes and never came close to winning even one state.

It is interesting to see this independent bid by Howard Schultz develop. He seems to be serious about running and despite his liberal positions on many things, he sounds much more reasonable then many of the leftist marxists running for the Democratic nomination. He's quietly building out a national operation that has potential to suck a lot of votes away from the Democratic side.

70%— that sounds like consensus, so everyone else are Re-election Deniers.

This next election will be hugely important for the Courts alone if for no other reason. If President Trump gets re-elected it would be highly likely he would get to replace a couple of the Gang of Four on the Supreme Court. That would go a long way toward ensuring our constitutional rights will be respected.

In addition to that the 4th, 9th, 10th and 11th circuits are all extremely close. A few more Trump nominees could have a huge beneficial effect on ensuring the constitution is actually followed instead of Leftist dogma.

“Mnuchin isn’t a bad guy...and his wife is a Bond villian-esque hottie.”

I half agree with you. If that hottie was the Treasury secretary I would 100% agree with you.

Who do you think would be doing a better job in the White House???

*********************************************************

On the issue of immigration, the chair that Clint Eastwood brought on stage would be probably being doing a better job than Trump. Because the chair would not have made the promises that Trump did which seemed to induce the onslaught that we currently see on the border. And because the chair didn’t make those promises and then not act on them, supporters of the chair would not be disheartened into potentially staying home come the next election.

Unless Trump can put a stop to what’s going on, I agree.

It may already be too late.

Hopefully not.

Look, did you see Trump’s greeting in the neighborhoods he traveled through in California today?

There were many people on the street waving flags and cheering him on. Some guy in a heavy Spanish accent shouted, “We love you President Trump.”

I think we get down at times, but it’s my take Trump has won an amazing number of people over.

We’ll see...

It’s a tough time we live in.

The media is skewing the real opinions of Americans to make it look like everyone prefers Communism.

Not buying it.

Take it easy. I agree that it’s a tough road ahead, but Trump is producing.

I wish those people would listen to those of us that live on the border.

But we wouldn’t be in the mess we are today if people had listened to us over a decade ago when we tried to sound the alarm about the border issues to begin with. We were met with talking points from the left even on conservative web sites like FR. Racist, not telling truth, Americans won’t work, Illegals all hard working/not criminals... ETC.

Border threads posted here now that might actually inform people get an average of 20 posts, that is why I rarely post them here any more- to me that is a lack of real interest. Oh those that claim Trump is not doing anything about the border, or not meeting his campaign promises about the border get many posts. Hmmm odd thing. Most seem to not actually care about the border issues, many caring about Trump looking bad. Imagine that.

I don’t understand how people who come into FR cannot see what you are saying, DoughtyOne...

To me, it’s damned obvious....

Very correct.

The best thing is that with the Democrats putting up candidates like touchy uncle Joey, Fauxcohontas and with spokespersons like Alexandria ocasio Castro, Trump really just needs to campaign as “you want THIS LOT in power???”

Then they are fools.

President Trump has defunded American death machines that funded global abortions.

In my book that alone is enough to warrant his re election. Add in the improved business sentiment, more job and wealth creation, handling of North Korea, stopping Middle East adventures and you have one of the best American Presidents ever.

Sure, he has an abrasive personality, but no one can deny his results. They have been impressive.

“Our population of Socialist Kool-Aid drinkers is just exploding in this country. ”

You are certainly right about the numbers, but that doesn’t mean they’ll unify behind a single candidate. In 2020, the dozens of Democrat candidates will cannibalize one another, each trying to out-do the other in proving their radical PC virtue signaling.

Look at how willing they are to throw creepy Biden under the bus. He is the one candidate who could actually appeal to some of the marginalized older white working class Independents and Democrats from the rust belt who crossed over to vote for Trump in 2016. He is the one candidate main stream and populist enough to resist embracing socialism, infantacide and open borders.

Meanwhile Trump will be completely unchallenged on the Republican side.

I think it will be a Trump landslide - perhaps not the level of either of Reagan’s landslides, or of Nixon’s epic 1972 landslide, but he’ll likely break 400 electoral votes.

2024 will be a completely different story.

Yes, Trump policies had my area of the border really quiet, from the beginning of his term...until the Central Americans began to come in October, for a bit there was just a few of them, small groups...and funny thing is they began to show up before the media ever reported the first caravan. So numbers were not big and this part of the border was still under control. Then when courts began to rule against his immigration policies more and more came from Central America. Congress was also fighting him on the wall, and his policies and that didn’t help. Then large groups were being dumped and while Border Patrol was busy with them smugglers were coming through with people who were evading BP, not asylum seekers at all...human trafficking and drug smuggling. Then it got really out of control.

So my answer is Trump policies were working until he had to change them. And until the cartels realized he had little support in Congress or courts to be tough or build a wall. The flood increased with each decision...and not getting the money from Congress for the wall. Believe me when I say the illegals know our laws better than we do...special interest groups make sure they know what to say and not say...

The worst thing that happened was the Supreme Court ruling in December that people could ask for asylum any time anywhere as long as they were on our soil, and even if they came here illegally. Trump’s policy before that ruling was if people came here illegally they were not eligible to even apply for asylum.

https://constitutioncenter.org/blog/supreme-court-keeps-asylum-limits-on-hold

The other thing that made things even worse is the rulings in these:

https://pennstatelaw.psu.edu/sites/default/files/documents/pdfs/Immigrants/Grace%20v.%20Whitaker.pdf

https://www.courthousenews.com/9th-circuit-says-asylum-seekers-have-right-to-appeal-deportation/

The wall is heading my way...contracts being bid right now, money is there. I know someone involved in that so hear more than reported but that is happening real soon. We had illegals at our house a few nights ago...NOT asylum seekers...and the response by BP and LEO was far beyond any I have seen living here for decades. Trump has gone above and beyond to do everything he can with his policies, and having to fight every step of the way, even our governor is fighting against him securing the border and enforcing our laws. I have lived on the border since 1970 and we have never had a President that understood the issues better, or fought harder. Anyone that says otherwise needs to really educate themselves about what is going on.
