Media Downplays Another Huge Trump Accomplishment
Townhall.com ^ | April 4, 2019 | Derek Hunter

It’s not often you see the words “win” and “Trump” in a headline on CNN’s website. It’s rarer still when those words are separated by the word “for” and not some variation of that “win” being against the president. Yet that happened on Monday because, despite the liberal narrative and CNN’s seemingly expressed wishes, President Donald Trump scored a huge win for the American people in the battle to roll back the damage done to American lives during the opioid crisis.

I had to do a double-take, it was April 1st, after all. But the headline was a shock, considering the source. “China announces new crackdown on fentanyl in win for US President Trump,” the CNN website read. A win for President Trump being touted on the network of Don Lemon and Brian Stelter? Had to be a joke, right? But it wasn’t. And it wasn’t just a win for the president, it’s a win for everyone. Still, it had to kill them to write it.

“The Chinese government will add fentanyl-related substances to their list of controlled drugs from May 1, in a move aimed at curtailing the manufacturing and distribution of one of the world's most powerful opioids,” CNN reported.

This is huge news for anyone with a friend or family member suffering with opioid addiction, and there are a lot of them. Opioid-related deaths now annually outpace the number of deaths during the entire Vietnam War – 58,220 to 70,237 in 2017 alone. And a major cause of those deaths is fentanyl, one of the deadliest substances on Earth.

Fentanyl is also cheap, and a tiny amount of it can deliver a high. For drug cartels, it makes for an effective way to “spice up” diluted or “stepped on” heroin. The problem is it doesn’t require much fentanyl to kill. Administered outside of the supervision of a doctor in a controlled environment, it will kill.

The flow of fentanyl has been a major boost to the drug cartels, allowing them to stretch their heroin supply which adds to their profits. And that flow largely starts in China. With the Chinese government agreeing to the Trump administration’s request to ban all “fentanyl-related substances,” this closes a major loophole that allowed manufacturers to change their formulation slightly to avoid piecemeal bans that went after new classes of the narcotic.

Now any molecular configuration of fentanyl will be treated as the controlled substance it is. It won’t stop the flow, but it should choke it down significantly as we scramble to get a handle on this epidemic.

Make no mistake about it, this is a big win for the president. Even The New York Times, the paper of record for “The Resistance,” was forced to give him credit, even though they downplayed his role

“China Bans All Types of Fentanyl, Cutting Supply of Deadly Drug to U.S. and Fulfilling Pledge to Trump,” was the headline at the Times, but buried in the story was the important detail that this unprecedented action by China was a result of President Trump’s sustained pressure on Beijing.

“In December, Mr. Trump announced a promise that Mr. Xi had made to him at the Group of 20 meeting in Buenos Aires, saying then that the step formalized on Monday could be a ‘game changer.’ He had previously taken to Twitter to excoriate China over the issue, accusing it of ‘killing our children and destroying our country,’" the Times reported.

In typical fashion, the media is reluctant to give credit where it’s due. The Times buried the pressure applied by the president that led to the change in paragraph 13 and the only time I saw the CNN.com story on television was when it was mentioned on Fox News because of the rarity of CNN running, even in print, a positive story about the president.

Breathless news packages about the opioid crisis are warranted, but so few about a win for the forces of good? It’s not by accident that you’ll only find one link on this on MSNBC.com, a short segment featuring clownish personalities Ali Velshi and Stephanie Ruhle downplaying the significance of this ban.

It shouldn’t matter where you fall on the political spectrum – whether you think Donald Trump can do no wrong or he is the root of all evil – this is a major victory for the country.

This is important, and great news for the United States. It also happens to be due to the actions of President Donald Trump. Because of the left’s hatred of the latter, the former is being downplayed. Shame on them all.

Trump is one of the best presidents we have ever had.

We need him for a second term. I hope he can successfully hold rallies in all 50 states during this election cycle.Once that roll starts there will be no stopping it.

Yes shame on all of them. Shame on every politician (you can name them) that didn't play hardball with China and gave them favored trading status while they ate our lunch, took our jobs, destroyed the mid-west by extension, let this poison flow, and do I dare say let Loral sell the ChiComs systems so they could "enhance" their satellite delivery systems, that we can lay at the feet of one WJC.

This is what playing hardball and acting like a boss yields as results. Can you imagine where we would be if She who shall not be named got elected, none of this would be happening. God Bless President Donald J Trump and his family, we are so blessed.

I’ve never seen the attraction of such substances and fear them greatly for their impact personally.

But bad personal choices are on that person. I will not lift a finger to help until they admit it’s a mistake and seek help on their own.

the left’s next move will try and show the “medicinal” benefits of fentanyl use and how Trump is denying thousands of homeless crackheads in Seattle of their medicine.....

get ready for the CNN nightly specials on how they the homeless are dying because they aren’t getting their fentanyl/dope fix.....

(I guess this is a good article for the Babylon Bee!)

Man, I hate it when I walk outside and catch fentanyl from the neighbor who sneezes at me.. Wait, I don't. It's not an epidemic, nor is drug use a disease. And neither are infectious, you actually have to make a choice to use them.

The deaths are rising because of our Laissez-faire attitude towards drug crime, most especially in the big cities. Seattle, for an example, says 3 grams of fentanyl laced heroin is simply personal use - oh, yeah, that's also about 80 doses of the drug as well, or to put it in the context of this story, enough to kill 16 people.

I know many libertarians who are sick and tired of the drug war - I get that; the FDA is an unconstitutional overreach by the federal government. And honestly, you want to go kill yourself in your own home, it is your decision, not mine.

But there are tens of thousands of heroin & meth addicts occupying public spaces from the streets in front of productive businesses to our nation's waterways which they are openly polluting with their filth. Every single one of them is impacting the lives of others even if it is just to cover the nose to get through a urine soaked street.

So I respond to those libertarians - do you think it acceptable for someone to occupy private or public property for their own ‘home’? Without any care for how unsanitary they live, how much they steal from the neighborhoods around them?

If tomorrow they somehow wiped out the federal drug laws, the results still remain - drug tent enclaves destroying public parks, human waste dumped wherever they please, trash causing flooding of homes people work hard for.

We keep using excuses, trying to imply it isn't their fault, that it is a medical condition that causes total disregard for the city or country around them. It isn't an epidemic, it is sedition away from the community so they can get high one more time.

Trump could come up with a cure for cancer and the enemedia would run a headline that reads

Trump puts tens of thousands of cancer researchers out of work.

I, who once thought the idea of Donald Trump running for president was absurd, am beginning to lean toward asking you, “What do you mean ONE of?” Barring some unforeseen event I think he may very well wind up being the standard against which all others are measured. I certainly cannot imagine this country ever accepting another mealy mouthed do nothing type. We are at the point where those who still oppose him must be recognized as enemies of this country. Imagine what he might accomplish if he had the support from the media that Obama had.

Or am I wrong, maybe it is the opposition from the press which forces people to recognize what is really happening?

“But bad personal choices are on that person.“

Deliberately making oneself dumber than you already are is a poor strategy for long term survival.

Doctors are becoming more hesitant to prescribe opioids because of the media hype and sky is falling hysteria. It’s one thing to combat illegal street drugs. It’s another thing to interfere in a doctor patient relationship in such a way that people who actually need pain management suffer.

“It’s not an epidemic, nor is drug use a disease. And neither are infectious, you actually have to make a choice to use them.”

Indeed. But we have pretty much put bubble wrap on every one of the sharp corners in life in order to shield stupid people from the consequences of their actions. As a result we are hip deep in stupid.

“The deaths are rising because of our Laissez-faire attitude towards drug crime, most especially in the big cities.”

I work in downtown Chicago and I used to walk from my office to see any number of my customers. I got really tired of stepping over stoned mentally ill drug addicts on literally ever street corner and walking through clouds of weed smoke every day. Good for the cab companies but expensive for my employer as I expense every single trip.

“But there are tens of thousands of heroin & meth addicts occupying public spaces from the streets in front of productive businesses to our nation’s waterways which they are openly polluting with their filth.”

We used to have laws against that sort of thing and they used to be enforced.

“So I respond to those libertarians - do you think it acceptable for someone to occupy private or public property for their own ‘home’?”

Absolutely not. You want to get stupid in your own home I don’t care. As long as you’re not harming kids or puppies my give a damn is busted. But the second someone brings it into the streets it’s everyone’s business.

drug crime, most especially in the big cities

Leftists run all the big cities around the world. Right voters couldn't elect a dog catcher in any of them. We can't help and they don't want us to try.

High rise cities once were once the castles in our economy but most American commerce has since moved into virtual cities online. Legacy cities now serve as concentration camps for undesirables.

A prayer from the American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr: "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference."

Many people are DEAD because the poison was laced into the heroin without their knowledge.

Doing drugs is stupid, taking poison without your knowledge can be deadly and that is not a personal choice.

“Many people are DEAD because the poison was laced into the heroin without their knowledge.”

Who made the decision to put heroin into their body in the first place? Who made the decision to purchase that heroin from some unlicensed street corner pharmacist without any way to ascertain the purity of said heroin?

Here’s a thought: If you don’t put heroin into your body and you decrease the risk of dying from contaminated product to almost zero.

The big problem is the Crisis is a FAKE. Toxic RINO late NJ Gov Chris Christie suggested the current CDC Director, who does not have to go thru background checks to the extent a Fed Bench Judge does. He also suggested the SHRINK Andrew Kolodny.

1 Redfield has a grudge..his 37 yr old son OD’d on Herion/Fen laced illicit drugs. 2 He fudged his Ebola research. So he has a ax to grind, and drug dealers and addicts are hard targets. Patients are soft Targets because they use Doctors, Prescriptions, Insurance who can be Intimidated by the DEA. Patients who really need Opioid Meds are now not getting any or very few, even Cancer patients.

2 Kolodny owns some failing Suboxone Clinics.

3 States, cities, counties want $$ from Pig Pharma’s deep pockets to keep them afloat and replace the $$ that they have had to spend on the OD’s Narcan, EMT’s, crime, etc. https://www.minnpost.com/state-government/2019/04/how-big-pharma-became-the-biggest-villain-of-the-2019-minnesota-legislature/

So they all LIED. CATO https://www.cato.org/blog/cdc-researchers-state-overdose-death-rates-prescription-opioids-are-inaccurately-high

I should know I’ve been going thru dental procedures since August to get a much needed lower denture. 11 lower teeth removed first 3 days of 5 mg Norco, would not cover the 14 days of Level 10 pain. When the front gums developed Bone spurs that had to be surgically removed a month later same 3 days 5 Mg for 14 days of Level 10 pain.

Last week the Oral Surgeon had to Re-sculpt most of the lower jaw. 2 days of 7.5 mg Norco. for 2 weeks of Level 10 pain. ON top of the Level 10 pain I live in as I have several autoimmunes that cause extreme pain no known treatment that I don’t react to, a degenerative spine to boot. I fell in Aug ended up in the ER which was the EMT’s decision. Still am in pain. MRI scheduled for the 24th the Lumbar is Calcified as well. I’m 70, no spring chicken so have OA/OP too.
