Don’t Let Google Fool You, Mr. President
American Spectator ^ | March 31, 2019 | Mytheos Hold

The week following Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s exoneration of President Trump was, as the president might say, “so beautiful, so yuge, so fantastic.”

And it’s not just Mueller. Persistent Trump antagonist Michael Avenatti has been indicted by the Southern District of New York (SDNY) for blackmail and fraud. The attempt by House Democrats to override the president’s veto of a resolution disapproving of his emergency powers failed. Network executives are now clueless about how to fill up time on shows once dedicated to goading Trump over Russia. All things considered, the president couldn’t have had a better week.

However, perhaps from a desire to be magnanimous in victory, President Trump has shown a troubling willingness to treat at least one of his enemies with far more charity than they deserve. Consider two tweets sent by the president on Wednesday, March 27, produced below:

Just met with @SundarPichai, President of @Google, who is obviously doing quite well. He stated strongly that he is totally committed to the U.S. Military, not the Chinese Military….

… Also discussed political fairness and various things that @Googlecan do for our Country. Meeting ended very well!

President Trump’s optimism on both points is admirable, after a fashion, but also worrisome. Indeed, to those of us who have been critics of Google’s influence on politics for most of President Trump’s term, these tweets seem troublingly naïve for the usually savvy Trump. Granted, Trump could be sending both tweets as a public show of diplomacy, as he has with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, in an effort to sweet talk Google into cooperating with him. But, as Ronald Reagan once said, trust, but verify.

Although all of the networks were adversely affected, CNN took it especially hard. Their chairman Yesmi Pantsarronfyre was very incensed about leaked footage of him explaining to sponsors and advertisers that although their subscriber base was eroding, they had a higher quality of consumers and that numbers don’t tell the whole story. Yesmi proudly showed graphs and polls that their (dwindling) audience were low IQ, which bodes well when it comes to advertising. “When you’re pitching your product, these people don’t read the labels or pay attention to the side effects of the medicines you sell. All they want is to think they will lose weight and still eat all of the Big Macs they want.”

[Trump’s no dope..

I don’t think it’s a question of trust. Trump has a record of glad-handing his adversaries in public, while deploying the shiv in private. The Russian mercs in Syria were obliterated while he was praising Putin. Huawei’s CFO was arrested while he was whispering sweet nothings into Xi’s ear. Liberals keep thinking Trump is a malevolent version of the Peter Sellers character in Being There. They are wrong. A guy who wins the Presidency on his first try is the opposite of oblivious.

CNN blames rating slump on lack of news they want to report. (Babylon Bee)

Not a problem, they'll just make up stuff like they do anyway - pining away for a good conspiracy to promote as news.

Agreed completely.

It wont be the first time he has done that.

Who the heck wins the POTUS election without ever having served a day in office and no experience at the government level.

I don’t know history well enough to know if there were any others.

Seems to me, after watching Trump in office, that he puts the best public face on a given situation that he can, in order to give someone a chance to live up to it knowing full well what they’ve been up to that point. Then, if they don’t, it hits the fan. We’ve seen it with several people.

Yep. With Trump it’s a matter of watch what he does more than what he says. Like Lucy and the football, the left falls for it every time.
