HOUSTON, Texas The Drug Enforcement Administration in Houston is looking for a contractor to burn 1,000 pounds of marijuana per hour through September.
The DEAs posting says the contractor would need to have enough space and resources to burn the marijuana for eight consecutive hours per day. The burns are needed to reduce unneeded evidence from the DEAs inventory.
The incinerator must burn 1,000 pounds of marijuana per hour, which would be delivered in bales or bricks, each weighing up to 200 pounds.
DEA agents would accompany the contractor during the burns, and all employees would receive drug tests and background checks. The DEA also requires that the contractor have surveillance cameras over the entire burn area, and DEA agents would access that closed-circuit video.
The posting also requires that the facility have a surrounding fence tall enough to block public view of the burning. The job would take place from March to September.
The DEA sent the following statement to KHOU about the position.
Although we appreciate local citizens willingness to offer their help, this is a complicated, large-scale government contract were required by law to bid every few years, and there are usually only a handful of companies with the necessary facilities and resources to help us dispose of this material. While it makes for an interesting headline, the truth is far more prosaic our agents working across the Houston Division make a huge number of great cases, and as a result, we seize a tremendous amount of illegal drugs. Arranging for the safe and effective destruction of these drugs is just part of the job.
Yes that was what we were told. A bonus for the tax payments not so much for the residents.

Oh wow man!
I read it as legal and TAXED weed has great potential to prop-up the budgets of the profligate states. So Washington is going to lend them a hand.
Willie Nelson and Snoop Doggy Dog smoked pot? who knew? I’m so shocked.
There’s a trash-to-energy co-generation plant in West Tulsa that could probably do this. I know for a fact they’ve done evidence burns of other drugs for the state narcotics enforcement agency. The energy produced is steam that is piped directly across the street to the refinery. The heat in the burn process is extremely high and very little residual is produced. I think this company has a facility in the Houston area that will probably be a bidder.
Kalifornia has a 6 year supply of legal pot already.
Which album was that? I had a copy of Big Bambu years ago, on cassette, but I no longer have a cassette player.
Good morning class. Good Morning Class! Class!!... SHUUUT UUUUPP! Thank you.
awe hell , only the governmwnt could screw up a bon fire.
Rolling coal will now make you high?
Why pay a contractor sell it to California the weed wine and cheese stoners could burn it up in half the time.
A former Florida county sheriff where I used to live, and his Chief Deputy were arrested and prosecuted for drug trafficking.
They had the then only evidence incinerator within a hundred mikes, so every county sent their drugs, weed, etc., to them for destruction.
They would destroy a little of it for the papers and TV and then sell the rest to street dealers....................
We should sell the weed to Canada. Build some more wall.
We should build the wall with the weed.
It would stop everybody and they would forget what they were doing................
“Calling all stoner jokes... step up now...”
OK, here goes: a drunk driver will blow past a stop sign; a stoned driver will wait for it to turn green.
Ba-doom-TISH!
Any inner city high school can do it on the cheap as a student project.
Then we could call it "renewable energy".
Pagin’ Mr. Cheech and Mr. Chong! Please Pagin’ Mr. Cheech and Mr. Chong! Please pick up the courtesy phone.
“Rolling coal will now make you high?”
OOPS!.. I should have said thermal depolymerization. The output there is completely not the feed stock. Regular pyrolysis would in fact be the rolling dirty!
Cheers
