Amid her zeal to save the world with the Green New Deal, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has ignored residents in her own Bronx back yard.
“I thought AOC would be our savior, but that’s not the case,” complained Roxanne Delgado, a local activist who said she has tried for months to get in touch with the congresswoman for help saving an animal shelter and to clean up parks in the district.
Delgado, 40, says she has made numerous calls to Ocasio-Cortez’s offices in Washington and Queens and sent a barrage of tweets after the freshman lawmaker encouraged residents during a recent visit to a Bronx public library to hit her up on social media.
But she’s heard nothing back.
“NO email or contact on @AOC’s page except DC number which has full #voicemail and no one picks up,” Delgado tweeted on Monday.
The Post made several calls to both the Washington and Queens offices last week. The same recording at both numbers gives Ocasio-Cortez’s Web site and doesn’t allow a caller to leave a message.
Another Bronx constituent told a community gathering last month that they needed Ocasio-Cortez for a sitdown with post-office officials to sort out difficulties he was having with mail delivery.
“I want AOC or a representative from AOC to be there,” Anthony Vitaliano, a former cop and Community Board 11 member, said at a Feb. 28 board meeting.
By contrast, he said, residents’ needs received much more attention under Rep. Joe Crowley, whom Ocasio-Cortez unseated in a surprise primary upset last year.

That's because she doesn't believe in a representative form of government. She is assuming that she will be a part of the upper crust, inner circle, supreme council of her future socialist paradise. She has no interest in listening to the folks who got her in the House. They are the cannon fodder who got her there, but selfish and self-centered is her game and she wouldn't know where to begin to actually feel empathy for the needs of the citizens in her district.
One of the Number One jobs for a congresscriter is to bring home the bacon from Washington. We all don’t like it, but it is the way it is. Gotta take care of the folks back home.
If there is a problem with the mails...thats a federal type thing and worthy of a congressperson to check into....Getting afew dollars for an animal shelter is a nice thing too....Even if its donated dollars and not federal dollars. You pick up the phone and dial the numbers.

I think she needs to stay. She’s so off the wall that she’ll be driving people away. Sure, she’s going to get the liberal, hipster vote. Anyone like her will. But her policies are only going to divide and alienate her from the Democrats. She’ll either cause a 3rd party to form, force a few of them to stay home or maybe even hold their noses and vote for the Republican. Who knows?
Either way, I’d like her, Omar, Pressley and Tlaib to stick around for a little while. They’re doing wonders.

Legislators have budgets for staff to handle constituents issues. It’s obvious that AOC is spending that money on other things.

Well, they certainly were dumb enough to elect her. Wonder if they will “keep her on?” From what I have read, she won largely because of a completely apathetic voter base. Evidently, most didn’t even go to the polls.
Fortunately for our country, Obola wasn’t a messiah, he was just another trick bag Democrat with unusual schtick and skin tone. I hope the voters have learned their lesson, with him. I guess we will see what with the new batch of “Black Obola Look A Likes” lining up for 2020. Same BS lines, same skin color.
“Exciting” isn’t the word I’d use to describe the trip. I’d encourage him to give it a shot, but it would mean loosing an Amphicar, and they are very rare.
