On offense in Russia probe, Trump urged to consider new special counsel, criminal referrals

With President Trump entering the "counter-punch" phase of the Russia investigation, allies are urging him to consider two avenues -- each with its own potential payoffs and pitfalls -- to investigate the origins of the probe and hold top Justice Department officials accountable for alleged wrongdoing.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller announced the completion of his investigation last week, transmitting his more than 300-page report to the Justice Department for review. Attorney General Bill Barr released a four-page summary of Mueller’s report Sunday, stating the special counsel found no evidence of collusion between members of the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential election, despite numerous offers from Kremlin-linked individuals.

This week, Trump allies are seizing on the results of the nearly two-year-long investigation and presenting options for the president to pivot to uncover alleged misconduct at the start of the probe.

We don’t have a “Justice System”.

We have a broken, corrupted “Legal System”.

I would have difficulty finding strong enough facts to refute your conclusion.

I stand corrected.

Pretty sad state of affairs in this once glorious Republic, isn’t it?

The downside is only honest AGs will appoint one. Criminals like Holder and Lynch never will.

Nunes keeps saying he’s sending a bunch of criminal referrals over too. I hope one of them is Schiffty.

No more special counsels. They are too unpredictable. Loose cannons. Usually backfire. Let Barr do it. Sessions should have. Huber may be doing something in Utah. That was his task per Sessions. If he didn’t. Oh well .........

After the Battle of Britain, did people tell the English to move on, that the Germans gave it a shot but heck, let's try to now get along? No, the British decimated the Axis industrial complex and led the way to invading Germany.

When the Germans surrounded Bastogne in France and demanded the surrender of American forces, and the Americans repelled the Germans, did people tell the allied forces that the Germans gave it a shot but heck, let's try to now get along? Nuts! The allies broke the German bulge in the lines and pushed them all the way back to Berlin.

After the Battle of Midway, did people tell the Americans to forget about Pearl Harbor and move on, that the Japanese gave it a shot but heck, let's try to now get along? No, the Americans nuked Japanese cities and put an end to the war.

This is the germ of an idea I have for a more full essay on American resolve in the face of unprovoked assault, ending with President Reagan's "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" McArthur in Korea could be explored (until he was stopped by Truman), and Khrushchev in Cuba and the reverse scenario of Kennedy in Vietnam could too, but those all end in failure.

My thought was to project forward through modern history where is the turning point that Republicans went wobbly in the face of staunch opposition? My thesis is that it began with George H. W. Bush's failure to march all the way to Baghdad to defeat Saddam Hussein, instead listening to the advice of Colin Powell to stop short and let them escape.

Ever since then, Republicans became gun shy, elected weak leaders in Congress, and began a reign of seeking compromise to avoid conflict, resulting in a weakened Republican party and a growing Leftist movement in the United States.

In President Trump's case, it's the calls from people like Karl Rove and others in the MSM to just move on and forget the coup d'état that the Democrats attempted to retake control of the federal government.

Trump must be encouraged to show the stiff resolve of strong Republicans from the Greatest Generation, and not be afraid to ferret out the conspirators against him, just because the conspirators lobby is pressuring him to back off.

Ya know, Liz, that's actually not a bad idea.

Barr and select, trustworthy Trump appointees should file actions and convene Grand Juries in venues as necessary to gather this information while locking all Rat Leftist out except as recipients of a subpoena.

I don’t plan to take sides. He posted a very relevant article that has nothing to do with your beef. Take it off line.

You can't take sides against a consistent diehard supporter of a hostile regime? This phony (so-called "Navy Patriot") is part of a group of Russia supporters, known here as "Putinistas". It needs to be known by anyone reading a Russia thread who they are and where they stand.

Whether they are on the Russia payroll, as some almost certainly are, is not really important. What matters is that they are attempting to sway people into having a favorable opinion of Putin, and the various actions he has taken. Meanwhile, the Russians firmly back Iran, North Korea, the ChiComs, Syria, and numerous far left regimes in Latin America. Why they are allowed to remain on this site, doing what they do, as obvious as it is, is a question I cannot answer.

We don’t need a Special Counsel

Don't tell me you are naive enough to trust the DOJ/FBI to investigate itself?

We absolutely need outside investigators to look at how DOJ/FBI handled Hillary emails abuses. And I think a second outsider to look at how DOJ/FBI/CIA handled it's counter intelligence "investigation" of the Trump campaign.

If you want the American people to believe both matters have been handled fairly then an outside investigation is the only way to go.

It needs to be known by anyone reading a Russia thread who they are and where they stand.

Then take it up with the mods. Having no personal experience with Navy Patriot that would lead me to the conclusion he is a Russian plant, and I am not going to waste time researching it, you have two choices (well 3 actually). a) Cite specific examples of his Putinista actions and convince me with facts, b) look like a ranting idiot who likes to spoil threads and get zotted, or c) just let it go and enjoy your day.

Nobody appointed you Putinista police, and if someone did, I don't have to recognize it. Besides, this wasn't a russia thread. It was a Trump thread.

Way too late for that.

You are correct, this is a Trump thread, it simply has the noun "Russia" in it.

I posted it as a pro Trump discussion on the option of prosecuting Deep State Traitors with a Special Counsel or not (using normal Justice Dept. procedures).

You only supported Trump because you thought (mistakenly) that he would have been ‘friendly’ toward your boy KGB Putin. I believe Trump was naive early on in his opinion of Putin. However, he has since been seriously ‘schooled’ by wise and knowledgeable folks around him. You, on the other hand, are and have been well aware of the evil nature and history of the former KGB/FSB agent for a very long time.

Why don't you copy and paste one single post of mine where I do?

After all you have huge volumes of files on all things Communist, Soviet Union, Warsaw Pact, Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian, Yugoslavian, Serbian, Soviet Eastern European and KGB Putin, which you regularly spam any thread that fails to polish your obsession.

It should be easy for you.
