A man has been sentenced to life in prison for raping and killing a Muslim teenager as she walked back to a mosque with friends for pre-dawn religious services.
The life sentence without possibility of parole imposed Thursday on Darwin Martinez-Torres of Sterling was a formality after his guilty plea last year in the June 2017 slaying of 17-year-old Nabra Hassanen of Reston. That plea bargain required a life sentence but eliminated a potential death penalty.
Hassanen's death received widespread attention amid concerns her slaying was motivated by anti-Muslim sentiment. But prosecutors say Martinez-Torres attacked her after he got out of his car to chase Nabra's group of friends in a road-rage confrontation.
Martinez-Torres is an El Salvador native; immigration authorities say he was in the country illegally.

The title should have been “Illegal alien sentenced to life for murder of teen”. Those are the relevant facts, but of course the MSM has a narrative to drive.

It doesn’t matter to me that the girl was Muslim, nor does it matter that this fact was reported. What is, is. She was an innocent person, who was tortured and killed. My sympathies to her family.
No loving parent should ever be put through such an event.

Reston had an illegal-immigrant-gang problem already growing a decade ago when I left there. Someone I knew (a legal Salvadorean immigrant, ironically) was ambushed and beaten to the point of massive brain injuries that all but eliminated his humanity.
The fact he is an illegal alien is irrelevant with the exception that he should not have been in my country. The fact he murdered a Muslim is also irrelevant. He committed a heinous crime and should suffer the consequences. All other facts are irrelevant. He should be not in prison for life. He should be executed.

Lived in the Middle East, Oman. Their law is harsh but effective. I had no fear of their law as I was not a criminal. Their law for criminals is to be greatly feared.
My wife could walk the streets of the Souk alone in perfect safety. In Oman she was not required to dress in covering. Many women did or did not. It was their own choice.
In the gold shops of the Souk I have entered shops with the owner not there. He was probably next door drinking tea with his friend and saw me walk in. This was okay. Many thousands of dollars of jewelry was displayed and within my grasp. It was not behind glass nor in cabinets. Do not touch it!
Once the shop owner walked in it was okay to touch and exam the wares. I liked this.
