It turns out New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo isn’t the only prominent Democrat who questions whether America was ever that great.
In pointed terms during an interview with MSNBC on Wednesday, Obama-era attorney general Eric Holder posed the question to MAGA-chanting Trump supporters: "Exactly when did you think America was great?"

The comments echoed those of Cuomo, who took heavy criticism for remarking last year that America “was never that great.” Together, both off-the-cuff comments amount to stunning statements from public figures who until recently were considered potential presidential candidates. In both cases, the Democrats took shots at America's past as part of an effort to criticize President Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan.
After speaking during Wednesday's MSNBC interview with Holder on topics like criminal justice reform and partisan redistricting – which the ex-AG says is now his focus instead of running for the White House in 2020 – host Ari Melber had asked him: “There is a lot of talk about America being a leader as a democracy, quote unquote, in the 1800s when women and African-Americans couldn’t vote. What kind of democracy is that?”
Holder, unprovoked, then used his answer to tear into Trump's campaign rally cry.
"That's exactly right. And that's what I hear these things about 'let’s make America great again' and I think to myself, ‘exactly when did you think America was great’?” he said on the show.

Of course since this is Eric Holder, I expect him to trot out "What about oppression of black people during this era"? To which I would reply,
"F*** you." The travails of 10% of the population may be significant to you but in the overall scheme of American greatness, they are a relatively trivial dark spot on an otherwise amazing rise to greatness.We shall heed no efforts to once again pretend that the tail (of civil rights abuses) should wag the dog. (Of America's great accomplishments in this era. )

I’m kind of partial to the late 19th century early 20th century. The kind of place were people wore suits to baseball games and built great ships and planes. Invented cars and all kinds of things.

When the United States developed the nuclear bomb during WW2 we became the only country in the history of mankind to have the power to enslave the entire world but due to our decency & culture, we chose not to do so.

Don't look now, Eric, but there is no greater country on earth for people to live freely and with more economic opportunity than right here in America with our God-given rights and our constitution guaranteeing freedom including freedom of speech and freedom of religion and all our other rights and freedoms, including equality under the law, and the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, etc.
Really. Name a greater country that offers more freedom and opportunity. Even for black people. I said freedom not SOCIALISM. You can't do it because there is none.
Oh, you say you have to fight for your constitutional rights? Well, welcome to the club. And never give up that fight. Powerful people in powerful parties are forever trying to gain more power, grow bigger and more powerful government, and more control over we the people, Stay armed and ever vigilant. Ask MLK. Never give up the fight for freedom! Btw, may be news to some, but socialism is the opposite of freedom.
Our constitution guarantees us a republican form of government with strictly limited and defined powers allowing no king, no emperor, no dictator, no powerful central government, no socialist state or police state oppressing we the people. But we have to fight to keep it that way.
We are a self-governed constitutional republic! Not a democracy, not a socialist state. No other form of government is greater or offers more freedom or opportunity for the people! ALL the people regardless of race or religion.
What makes us less great today than yesteryear is when corrupt powerful people in political parties conspire together to whittle away at our constitutional rights and protections and try to fundamentally transform America from a free republic to a socialist state.
America is a rich country full of freedom and opportunity. Why do you think millions of people try to break IN to America every year? With the possible exception of Muslims who want to break in and take over every country in the world, we don't see millions of people trying to break in to Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, or any other socialist country. Why is that?
As far back as I can remember.
And its gotten worse ever since socialists like you started destroying it chipping away greatness with your marxist hegelian dialectic of phony “progress” and fake bs about “caring about people”.
Democrats have done quite a bit of gerrymandering as well. Hardly a one sided club.
