This is the fault of the commie media, every single day they call Trump Hitler, a treasonous President, illegitimate, a Russian puppet..I am shocked that someone hasn’t tried killing him or a member of his family..and if God forbid that ever happened, the reaction from the commie media would be “Well its Trump’s fault, he shouldnt have won in 2016”

They wouldn’t have to close stations. They don’t own but a tiny fraction of them (and those through shell corporations) and all they’d have to do is drop broadcast network news to avoid a violation in your plan. Nobody under 40 watches broadcast news any more and broadcast itself is slowly bleeding to death so again, it wouldn’t be a significant loss to them, just accelerating what was already happening anyway. Stations are *already* closing and consolidating anyway, and those are just the affiliates that the networks don’t own.
An Accuracy In Media Act, as has been proposed off and on over the years, *would* do something about it. Lie on a news broadcast? You forfeit any ad revenue for anything until you issue a public retraction and apology - but it has to receive the same exposure as the original lie. Run a lie as the lead in for the 10pm Monday news? You get to run your retraction as the lead in on the 10pm Tuesday news and you forfeited all the money you made that day. For everything.’
This would apply to any journalistic organization, not just broadcast.
I would back that.
Perhaps preventing the parent organization of supplying network news after a violation would be the way to go.
Just take all NBC network stations out of the collectivel supplied national news business.

What you said is so true. They are irresponsibly playing with people's lives. We must assume they know they are exaggerating due to hate and that they would be pleased if, God forbid, some moron gazing at them all day on TV is going to stand up and do something horrifying.
