Ex-CIA head Brennan on Trump attacks: I may have relied on ‘bad information’

Former head of the CIA John Brennan admitted on Monday that he may have relied on “bad information” for his relentless attacks on President Trump.

Brennan — who once warned that “our Nation’s future is at stake” — told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he may have been misled on the extent of Trump’s connections to Russia.

“Well, I don’t know if I received bad information but I think I suspected there was more than there actually was,” Brennan said. “I am relieved that it’s been determined there was not a criminal conspiracy with the Russian government over our election.”

The former spy chief was reacting to a summary report by Attorney General William Barr released on Saturday that states there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Brennan still maintained that there were inappropriate attempts to communicate with the Kremlin but said he was “not all that surprised that the high bar of criminal conspiracy was not met.”

Spoken by the man who continues to profit from the bad information he generates for a leading fake news organization.

Uhhhh…..isn’t it the CIA Director’s job to make sure information isn’t untrue?

That would be GREAT! :)

He deserved it. He burned those horses alive.

And he wanted Janice to take a cheese grater to his privates.

Sick individual.

I’d forgotten about the second part LOL...

But yeah he was the one guy who really had it coming... I liked how Tony put two and two together, with the light fixture at the stable having been twisted by a lefty, and then Ralphie cracking eggs, left handed.

...and Carmella loved that horse.

Brennan picked the wrong guy to tangle with.

Brennan's only powerful when the mob is behind him. When he's standing alone he's a wimp. Creepy dude.

I didn’t know that about the left hand!!

I’ve watched the entire series like 6 times and I’m STILL missing things!

Just heard on Varney that there’s going to be a Trump Rally in Grand Rapids on Thursday night. THAT could be one of the best rallies ever.

Brennan is not accepting responsibility for his lies. He is shifting blame to unknown “sources” who gave him “bad” information. Brennan was the CIA Chief at the inception of the FBI investigation in 2016. He was in a position to know the “factual” basis for the investigation. He used that knowledge, after he left the CIA, to become an “analyst” for MSNBC. I would like to know what promises he made that led him to get hired. Now that he is exposed as the liar many Americans knew he was and is, he wants to escape responsibility by blaming someone else. Too late, John. Perhaps your criminal defense lawyer can use it as mitigation at your sentencing.

I have no doubt that there is "someone else". I'm reasonably confident his middle name is "Hussein".

And the fact that Brennan is nervous enough to issue such a statement is, on the whole, good news, as he may not have been included in whatever deal had to be made to end the Mueller investigation.

Yeah, go back and watch it. The first clue is very subtle, Tony's looking around at the scene of the crime and he turns his attention to the hanging down light fixture... he looks at it kinda curiously... but he doesn't come out and say, "This was twisted by a lefty", at least I don't think so...

Then when he has the confrontation with Ralphie, that could have gone one way or another, except Ralphie happens to be preparing an omelet, cracking two eggs at once, left-handed. The camera zooms on Ralpie's left hand, like that's what Tony's brain is picking up. And that's what sealed the deal for Ralphie, who had already moved far into the gray area with Tony as we know.

Speaking of guys who had it coming, what else can be said about Richie Aprile? I thought it was cool when Janice just walked in on him, holding that .45 with both hands... humanity became a little bit better on that day too...

Also I didn't care for the way the whole thing ended, with Tony and Carmella and the kids all being murdered by the dude in the Members Only jacket, with an assist from the dude in the Carhartt vest and USA hat.

I wanted life after the mob for Carmella and the kids, but... the kids had grown into adults and had made their choices too, just like mom did, so that's the wages of sin, one would suppose.

WOW. You’re sharp.

But it would have been the FIRST time or one of very FEW out of thousands of hits where the family was murdered.

They’re “civilians”.

Not only would the next NJ boss HAVE TO command their death as part of continuing to work with NY, but the FBI would descend like MAD on them.

I know many in the life. Never the family.

Ever.

OK, I’ll take your word for that but it did make for excellent TV, didn’t it? Especially with theme music and everything.

I’ve got to confess about one thing, I did go back and watch the ending once more because I had lost count of how many single, middle aged men came in, waiting for Meadow too.

Only two? Well that’s enough, one would suppose.

BTW thanks for the generous words.

So he and his CNN network attacked Trump relentlessly for 2 years and now we’re just O’K.?

So if he sent forces to a battle and not enough to handle the opposition because he had bad information then what, just O.K. then?

ABC’s Terry Moran: John Brennan ‘Has A Lot to Answer For’
townhall.com ^ | Posted: Mar 25, 2019 9:52 AM | Cortney O’Brien

Former CIA Director John Brennan is not a fan of President Trump. Just glance at his Twitter page. Trump is “treasonous” and “not fit,” according to the former intelligence official.

Your cabal of unprincipled, unethical, dishonest, and sycophantic cronies is being methodically brought to justice. We all know where this trail leads. If your utter incompetence is not enough to run you out of office, your increasingly obvious political corruption surely will. https://t.co/S6DMeGICXZ — John O. Brennan (@JohnBrennan) January 26, 2019

It’s highly unusual for a CIA director to be so vocally opposed to a sitting president, yet Brennan has frequently taken his vitriol against Trump to cable news. For months, Brennan has suggested he had information that made him believe the Robert Mueller investigation would result in more indictments for Trump associates. He predicted on MSNBC, for instance, that even members of the Trump family could be in trouble in the “final act” of the investigation.

Of course, we now know Brennan’s predictions were wrong. Mueller released his report to Attorney General William Barr on Friday, with a note that there’d be no new indictments. In his summary to Congress, Barr said that at no point did Trump conspire with Russia to win the 2016 election.

With that announcement, Brennan is now facing a reckoning for his misleading rhetoric, including from media figures like ABC correspondent Terry Moran. According to Moran, Brennan has “a lot to answer for.”

John Brennan has a lot to answer for—going before the American public for months, cloaked with CIA authority and openly suggesting he’s got secret info, and repeatedly turning in performances like this. pic.twitter.com/EziCxy9FVQ — Terry Moran (@TerryMoran) March 25, 2019

The Intercept’s Glenn Greenwald turned his ire directly at MSNBC for hiring the ex-CIA director to serve as one of their political analysts, suggesting he used his airtime to “abuse our airwaves to disseminate self-serving disinformation.”

You can’t blame MSNBC viewers for being confused. They largely kept dissenters from their Trump/Russia spy tale off the air for 2 years. As recently as 2 weeks ago, they had @JohnBrennan strongly suggesting Mueller would indict Trump family members on collusion as his last act: pic.twitter.com/nPlaq5YVxf — Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) March 23, 2019

Others concurred.

A prime example of cable news being more interested in affirming their audience’s views, rather than informing them.

Speculative nonsense by @JohnBrennan to fill the time bloc, with no acknowledgment from @Lawrence now that it’s turned out to be laughably wrong. https://t.co/DAeqPl8kRS — Frank Luntz (@FrankLuntz) March 23, 2019

Asked to explain on MSNBC Monday morning why he was so sure there’d be more indictments, Brennan said he “suspected there was more than there actually was.”

His sore opinion of Trump appears to be mutual. Last August, the president revoked Brennan’s security clearance.
