Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) announced on Monday that he will not seek reelection in 2020, leaving the Senate seat he has held since 2009 up for grabs.
Im confident that we could run a strong campaign next year to earn a third term, because of all the work you and I have done together, along with my wife, Jill, and my incredibly dedicated staff," Udall said in a statement.
But the worst thing anyone in public office can do is believe the office belongs to them, rather than to the people they represent. Thats why Im announcing today that I wont be seeking re-election next year.

New Mexico has become part of North Mexico along with California.
No chance for a Republican.

I wonder how many others will step aside now.
It’s payback time and PAIN is coming. My hope is that in 2021 the Democrats will no longer exist as a major party.

People just don’t walk away from the Senate unless:
a) They’ve been diagnosed with a terminal disease
b) A major-league scandal is about to break
c) They’ve been elected POTUS/Governor or been appointed to a cabinet post.
I’m thinking “b” here. Unfortunately New Mexico appears to have gone so far Leftard that I doubt there will be a pick-up here.

So many Udalls in government... the Kennedys of The Southwest. Too liberal for me.

Interesting.
The Udall’s have been a cancer on the west for generations.

A government without the Udalls is an improved government.

Thanks, I wouldn’t doubt that it’s the “b” answer.

Way back in the day, Mark Udall, former Colorado Senator, was the leader of my Outward Bound school. We were both Orioles fans.

The state has Susana fatigue, plus her personal life has been tough recently.

Interesting thought, You think she can win it?

Q for anyone: Was Udall at that 2016 security conference in Halifax, the one McCain, Tom Kaine, and Christopher Steele attended.
Just curious.

Tim Kaine.
If Udall was there, 3 guesses why he’s leaving the Senate.
