Europeans see Germany's global role on the rise: Pew study
Deutsche Welle ^ | 03.20.2019 | Lewis Sanders IV

Posted on 03/23/2019 6:23:10 PM PDT by Olog-hai

In a survey published late Tuesday by the Pew Research Center, nearly half of all respondents in 10 EU member states said Germany plays a more important role in the world that it did a decade ago.

“There is a sense in Europe that while German power is on the rise, French and British power is stagnant or in decline,” the center said.

The view across Europe:

… An average of 62 percent of respondents said the EU is out of touch with its citizens. A majority held this view in eight of the ten countries polled.

Only those in Germany (49 percent) and Poland (42 percent) saw the situation differently. …

I don’t understand what appears to be a desire to allow Germany to rise further.

The desire is for the largest economy in Europe to be an equal partner. There is exactly zero reason to finance Germany’s defense while they shove billions in cash into the pockets of one party state fascist Russia.

Nope! You will see I’m right. They do not want the Brits to leave, that is why they are making it so hard but it would have been much easier if the Brits hadn’t made the mistake of choosing May. She is a hopeless case and the failure for a clean exit is her fault. She should have listened to Trump.
Many in the EU want their sovereignty back. They are tired of the UNELECTED bureaucracy acting like dictators which is what they are. The EU is a fine example of what the one world order Marxists have in mind for us all. Watch Italy, Poland, Bulgaria, and Spain. The wall is cracking.

I claim May is the reason the Brits are not yet out of the EU. Simply because it is taking a few months longer to exit does not mean it won’t happen. The Brits are NOT going to stand for having ANOTHER referendum shoved down their throats which is what the remainers are trying to do.
You sound as if you think Brexit is a lost cause. WHY?
I have no doubts.

Germany won’t attack anyone. They won’t even stand up to the Muslim invasion. Very few even strongly object to Muslims raping their women.

Yes and a lot of Brits have moved to France. Frankly, I don’t see much difference between New York and London. Neither city reflects the nation to which it belongs. Los Angeles is a mess too.

And if they finance their own military, what would they use it for? Remember that they’ve wanted such a thing for decades.

And assuming it becomes a giant Russian imperium, do we want such an entity to have access to the Atlantic, never mind full dominance of the Mediterranean?

“The rest of Europe might want to keep a rope or two on Germany-those guys were power-mad and marching on-and over-their neighbors way before the 20th century...”

Today’s German is not a military threat to anyone. They won’t even stand against the Muslim invasion. Very few of them strongly object to Muslims raping their women. Snowflakes and soft metrosexual types do not go to war.

The Brits didn’t choose May. The Red Tories in her own party did. Anyone who becomes head of the leading party becomes Prime Minister; there is no direct election of same.

And the point of Germany’s power becoming inordinate is the elephant in the room here. Give them a EU military and control of it (and many Europhiles are proposing exactly that), and the glue that holds their empire together becomes force rather than economic beggar-thy-neighbor bullying.

“” “” Then the motivation for so-called “Brexit” is self-evident. The trouble in the UK is that the process for leaving the EU was committed into those who want to stay part of the EU.”” “”

These are their elected officials.
I don’t really understand why do they even care about Brexit. Limeys are basically finished. They are a historical downtown and a couple of nice blocks nowadays with the rest of the country looking exactly like between trailer park, Congo and Pakistan.

I never said the Brits elected May. I said she is responsible for the FUBAR exit. She should have listened to Trump on how to make a deal. Nevertheless, Germany is not going to get an EU Army because they won’t pay for it and nobody else will either. The strongest Military in Europe is that of France and France will never turn over their Military to Germany. Too many Frenchmen have long memories. 1870-71, 1914-1918, 1939-1945! Every town in France has a memorial to their war dead and believe me they are not forgotten.

World War II ended almost 75 years ago, to suggest that Germany is going to immediately wage a war of aggression is ridiculous. We have no right to occupy them, they’re a sovereign nation, not a bunch of kindergartners.

If Germany is as dangerous as you suggest, then essentially you’re saying that unless we occupy them forever the only other option is to exterminate them.

Okay. See something, say something. But what exactly is the plan?

You can’t just tell them to go kill themselves. Once again I am against EU but to have Pence trying on a laurel hat before Euro rat audience informing them on American greatness and then giving them detailed instructions on how exactly they should screw themselves to further it is not helping at all. And since we have been talking about Roman Empire it resembles them a carricature of that infamous Roman representative in Judea condemned Jesus to death. They do best to keep giggles for themselves until leaving auditorium.

They also don’t understand what Trump is about. He is a sort of Nero in their opinion.

Hillary telling tales of peaceful cooperation while flooding them with hordes of savages and funding subversive interest groups within was even worse.

Oh, they will absolutely pay for their own military and have expressed the desire thereof. Just takes a certain type of leader. All the pieces are already in place too in the Treaty of Lisbon, and the Bundeswehr has even been taking over parts of the military of the Netherlands, Slovenia and certain other countries adjacent to them as the beginnings of a EU military. They actually want NATO gone because it keeps them down.

Also take note of how subservient France’s Macron is to Germany. In order for them to reassert their own identity, they need a very anti-EU leader, but it doesn’t look like they’ll get one because there aren’t any in existence; their entire political spectrum is pro-EU.

Dissolving the EU is not suicide on the parts of its member states. It’s the leaders who want to keep this intact, not the people.

And notice their reactions to people like Pence and Trump. They portray them as Emmanuel Goldstein was portrayed in 1984.

It is a near religious question of values.
A lion has his own perspective and so does hare. A snake has rather different perspective comparing to both lion and hare and the fish of its own.

You can’t make fish share worldview with hare. They don’t even live in the same environment.

To believe it is possible it one of the main blunders of US foreign policy.
At max you can make hare play as if it is a fish when it would realize that you are paying for it. It may even try on a scuba set if the pay is good enough.
It would stop immediately after you stop paying.

Germany doesn’t want a military. Germany invades with BMWs now. They want to freeload under the American nuclear umbrella while stuffing billions into Putin’s pockets. NATO is a toothless paper tiger and everybody knows it. If Russian tanks rolled into Narva tomorrow nobody would oppose them and you know it.

BTW, how is Minsk going five years on? Doesn’t Germany have the lead on that? German leadership. Now there is an oxymoron. LOL.

LOL. Do you write comedy for a living? It was reported last week the Germans are cutting their military budget and laughing in Trump’s face. The “EU army” only exists because those other countries slashed their military. Then Putin started shooting and they look like idiots so sudden the “EU Army” is born. The only target the EU Army will ever attack with is Google or Facebook HQ. Guaranteed.
