Republicans ask Waters to delay vote on marijuana banking bill (Anyone seen Mad Maxine?)

Republicans on the House Financial Services Committee are seeking to postpone consideration of marijuana banking legislation scheduled to be brought to vote next week by the panel’s Democratic chair, Rep. Maxine Waters of California.

Ranking member Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina and Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer of Missouri wrote Ms. Waters on Thursday raising concerns about Congress potentially passing the Secure And Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act, a bipartisan proposal meant to protect banks that work with marijuana businesses in weed-friendly states.

“The impact that many state laws, which have legalized marijuana, have on the federal laws governing the manufacturing, use, and sale of marijuana, including proceeds, raise many questions and concerns,” the Republicans wrote.

She's probably in her $5 million dollar mansion, that isn't even in her district.

California is on the verge of passing a law accepting crypto-currency “stable coins” as payment for marijuana taxes, because the marijuana businesses are having difficulties with the banking system.

Saw a recent article about how the more regulations and reporting imposed on the banking industry may eventually drive a large number of small businesses, not just these marginally legal businesses, into the crypto-currency world.

In a way it is already happening with things like paypal, venmo, etc. Facebook is said to be on the verge of launching a coin. “Stable coins” are a little different in that they are tied at parity (1:1) to a currency such as the US Dollar. So as long as you trust the issuer of the coin, they will always be worth $1 and no speculators in the market. Some of them will be decentralized, and the overall cost will be lower than the costs imposed by banks and credit card merchants.

Of course, some of them are and will be centralized. Facebook coin will be centralized. But the idea, anyway, is that the better coins should be free to trade on any exchange you want - all outside the banking system. The #1 hurdle is you still need to use the banking system to buy these stablecoins, but once acquired they trade and exchange anonymously for any other type of coin, currency, goods or services.

What Democrats and big statists never learn is that as they try to control people and commerce more and more, people will always find ways to work around the controls. They believe in mother nature, but abhor free will.

I can’t believe anyone on that committee takes James Br...er, Maxine Waters seriously.

The California congresswoman [Maxine Waters] has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars each election cycle from some of her state’s biggest politicians paying to be listed on her slate mailers—sample ballots traditionally mailed out to about 200,000 voters in Los Angeles highlighting whom she supports.

Since 2004, the campaign in turn reportedly has paid $750,000 to the congresswoman’s daughter, Karen Waters, or her public relations firm Progressive Connections for help producing them.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/maxine-waters-hit-with-fec-complaint-over-mailer-money

The scheme goes like this. Maxine pays her daughter to print flyers and mailers. The daughter then goes around to other people running for office - statewide office, LA county office, anyone who wants to get some votes out of her district - and charges them tens of thousands of dollars to be "listed" on her mailers. It is tantamount to endorsement of a candidate for cash. But she runs the printouts like some kind of slate of candidates. So she funnels her campaign cash, DNC campaign cash, and the campaign cash of other candidates for other offices directly to her daughter.

The Dems always cry about campaign finance reform and yet they are always scheming ways to cheat the spirit of the law and their so-called "principles". See AOC's troubles, and also the way the HRC campaign managed the bundling of donations to the DNC wherein her personal campaign received about 95% of all funds raised as kickback leaving the state campaign offices cash poor - if not an actual violation of the campaign finance laws then clearly a violation of the spirit of campaign donation limits.

“Any change to these statutes, or those that impact them, has the potential to divide the Congress and the country.

Horse manure from GOP right-statists.

Last time I saw Maxine, she was smokin a blunt and dealing dime crack bags on the corner of Normandie and Florance in Inglewood.
