While this is a tragedy and extremely sad, you make a very cogent point.
PTSD can be a brutal disease for those that place a high value of self-control. Suddenly you’re on the outside of your brain looking in.
While this is a tragedy and extremely sad, you make a very cogent point.
how sad
There are lots of reasons for suicide, often with kids it’s a sense of self-shame, magnified self-worth suddenly crushed. I don’t think that would be the case with this kid. Devastating on the family in any situation.
Makes me want to cry. God bless her, and the family.
Is she the one that spoke to the guy in the hallways?
Do you think the 20 veterans a day who commit suicide are selfish idiots, as well?
Or is it possible there is something else at work?
I don't know. Somehow her emotional pain, whether from guilt, grief, PTSD effect, or other was too much to bear.
Very sad, very very sad.As one who’s had two brushes with death (one at age 15) I know that the memories stay with you.
Your age is showing. :)
I suppose the alternative would have been to thank God for sparing you to move forward and do good things. Minds are mysterious things..
“...after suffering from survivors guilt and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)”.
I guarantee that she was on anti-depressants that have suicide as a side effect.
As are the vets that are taking their lives as well at the rate of 20 or so daily.
Although their sadness will never subside hopefully her family can realize that she was another victim of the shooter and they bear no responsibility.
Yep. See #33
This girl has now totally devastated her family and friends, who will now spend the rest of their lives wondering what they could have done to prevent it
....................................................
My father committed suicide when I was 29 years old. I’m 73 now and that question still haunts me. It gets a little better with time but never goes away completely.
I have become convinced in recent years that a lot of the terrible emotional up and down that most people experience these days is because of the high carb and sugar diet. The carbs convert to sugar and the sugar is sugar. Sugar is the active ingredient in all beer wines and liquors concoctions that converts to alcohol.
Basically what’s happening to people every day is that they are getting high and then going on to a massive sugar hang over several times a day.
They didn’t say how she commited suicide. What a shame. There were a few kids that killed themselves when I was in high school. That was 50 years ago. This has been going on forever. Hopelessness is a terrible state of mind. Sad story.
The Left tries to keep these things on the table. The whip up anti-government, anti-Conservative, anti-Gun rights issues, and then can’t understand why kids don’t heal and move on.
Sorry to hear about this.
People fixate on things. If an adult notices, they need to step in fast and hard to avoid this sort of thing.
One of the best things to ask this girl, is would you want Meadow Pollack to kill herself if you had died?
Do you think she would have wanted you to die because she did?
If you love your friend, you wish them well if you don’t survive. Your love doesn’t include desiring death or harm to your friend.
One less person will now remember Meadow.
That’s all we have in this world. When nobody remembers us any longer, it’s as if we never lived.
This girl short-changed Meadow.
Don't you actually have to be a survivor to have survivor guilt? That leaves little boss hogg out.
