Economists: Based on Presidential History, Trump Will Win 2020 in a Landslide

A new CNN poll from earlier this week shows a whopping 71 percent of the country believes the economy is doing really well.

Overall, 71% say the nation’s economy is in good shape, the highest share to say so since February 2001, and the best rating during Trump’s presidency by two points. A majority give the President positive reviews for his handling of the nation’s economy (51% approve), and his overall approval rating has ticked up to 42% in the new poll. The 51% who say they disapprove of the President’s job performance overall represent the lowest share to do so in CNN polling since the start of his presidency.

Based on this number, in addition to a number of other economic factors, some economists believe Trump is on his way to a 2020 landslide victory if things hold. From POLITICO :

If the election were held today, he’d likely ride to a second term in a huge landslide, according to multiple economic models with strong track records of picking presidential winners and losses.

Credit a strong U.S. economy featuring low unemployment, rising wages and low gas prices — along with the historic advantage held by incumbent presidents.

“The economy is just so damn strong right now and by all historic precedent the incumbent should run away with it,” said Donald Luskin, chief investment officer of TrendMacrolytics, a research firm whose model correctly predicted Trump’s 2016 win when most opinion polls did not. “I just don’t see how the blue wall could resist all that.”

Yale economist Ray Fair, who pioneered this kind of modeling, also shows Trump winning by a fair margin in 2020 based on the economy and the advantage of incumbency.

“Even if you have a mediocre but not great economy — and that’s more or less consensus for between now and the election — that has a Trump victory and by a not-trivial margin,” winning 54 percent of the popular vote to 46 for the Democrat, he said. Fair’s model also predicted a Trump win in 2016 though it missed on Trump’s share of the popular vote.

Trump campaign manager Brad Pascale sat down with CNN recently to talk about 2020 strategy and messaging, which strongly emphases the economy.

.... This will be a different election compared to 2016 ... There are a number of states opting out of the Electoral College as well as some deciding to keep Trump off of the Ballots in 2020. I am worried that the 2020 election may end up being decided by the courts because of all of this.

‘The dems will try to pick off Penn and Mich. They may succeed.’

with MI, yes, they probably will succeed; WI maybe...PA is going to be tough, if they can’t turn out blacks in Philly and Pittsburgh, like Hilary couldn’t...but if they do take PA and MI, they will win...

Do not be fooled. This is nothing more than an attempt at voter suppression. After all, if we already know he gonna win, no need to make sure we get to the polls now is there? I believe he will win in a landslide, but it’s still going to take each and every one of us pulling that lever for him.

‘There are a number of states opting out of the Electoral College’

huh...? nobody is ‘opting out’ of the EC; certain states have signed onto a compact that directs those states to have their electors vote for the popular vote winner; said compact has no effect until states totalling 270 EV’s have signed on, and that cannot happen without typically red states taking part...

State can not sign compacts per the Constitution. This will be shot down when the time comes.

The democrats running now, are in it just to position themselves for the 2024 election. They know they stand no chance in 2020.

........ Yes ..... But even if the state flipped red by the voters ..... the electors would be forced to vote against the people by voting blue if the national popular vote was a Democrat.

We can win this election but it going to take all us too do more we all have to target at least 5 people that we know.we all know people than don’t pay to much attention to politics these types will listen to what you have to say you have to tell them how important it is too this country to reelect Trump.people that’s not radical will listen to your message I got Trump 5 votes last election with people that usually don’t vote.they are lots of these types of people and it don’t take much effort I got one person to vote for Trump by moving his grass a couple times he had surgery and was bed ridden for a couple weeks he tryed to pay me and I said no but I do wish you would vote for Trump.he went with me to vote.if we all work just a little we can put Trump over the top...

I think it will be an epic landslide due to a Leftist meltdown.

I talk to a lot of young Leftists who were absolutely positive President Trump would be impeached within the first month.

They wanted Bernie or Hillary, and they hate the President, but ironicallly, Trump’s survival, although a disappointment, has not seemed to galvanize them in support of an attempt to unseat him in 2020.

It seems as if they realize the MSM and DNC has been lying to them about Russia and they are disgusted with all politics.

I don’t see any significant political movement on the Left in the works.

Meanwhile, the conservative movement under President Trump is just now coming into its own. There was a mixture of excitement and suspicion among conservatives in 2016, but since then, a lot has happened to strengthen the movement:

1)We have a proven conservative President who actually keeps his campaign promises.

2)The relentless and ruthless attacks waged on him by the Left, along with his great courage and sacrifice in enduring them, are earning President Trump an intense loyalty not seen since the great Ronald Reagan.

3)President Trump has gained the ultimate political upper hand. He has the profound advantage of running on the right side of every issue. As he cheerfully pointed out at CPAC, governing and winning is easy when your political adversaries choose such foolish positions on issue after issue.

Best election ever!!
