If dems don’t win a senate majority in 2020 they might shut up about this. But why wouldn’t they want to form a dem-rino coalition to get to 51? Murkowski, Romney...
The Dems plan on winning the Senate.
I believe those odds are unfavorable, but they are not impossible. There are too many (22) Republican Senators up for re-election in 2020. There are two few (12) Democrat Senators up for re-election in 2020.
Gardner(R) will lose in Colorado, and Collins(R) will lose in Maine. Why would people elect a RINO when they can have a real Leftist Democrat? Those States are going solid Blue.
On the other hand, Jones(D) will lose in Alabama, and Shaheen (D) will lose in New Hampshire.
That leaves 30 other races. Four of those races look like toss-ups to me, the rest look solid for the incumbent party. A lot can happen in 18 months. I do not expect the Senate to change hands, but it would behoove the Republicans to keep up the pressure.
And Democrat vote fraud will be at flagrant levels never before seen. It is time to get the preventive measures in place right now.

Just in case the Senate meets in the White House? :^) They don't have control of the Senate, nor are they likely to gain it, and they aren't likely to hold the House in 2020, either. The Demwits will be screwing themselves, just as they will if they manage to pass the NPV "reform".
I am perfectly fine with that. Make the SOB’s take an up-or-down vote on EVERY issue and let the chips fall where they may.

A President can’t scrap a Senate rule.
They absolutely should have ended the filibuster 2 years ago, but I don’t think we can lay this one at McConnell’s feet. There’s no way he would have had the votes.
The majority leader of the Senate has the power to change the rules like Harry Reid did for federal judges and McConnell also did for Supreme Court judges.
Filibustering is just the way the minority party uses to try to slow and stop the ruling party’s progress.

I guess if filibuster could be used to stall Executive actions in time of war it may not be such a great idea.
Yes they would have to take the Senate to do it. It was Harry Reid who started all of this by using the nuclear option to get Obama’s Federal Judges confirmed.
The majority leader does not have the power to change Senate rules unilaterally. Harry Reid didn’t change the rules, and neither did McConnell. A majority of the Senate voted to change the rules, each time.
That power to change the rules belongs to the Senate, by majority vote. If McConnell doesn’t have 51 votes, he can’t change the rules. I guarantee there were at least 4 Republican senators who would have voted against removing the filibuster.
