As the investigation into the college admissions bribery scandal continues, prosecutors learned that grades and test scores weren’t the only things that William “Rick” Singer faked. The mastermind revealed that he also falsified students’ ethnicities to get them into the country’s top universities.
According to the New York Post, Assistant US Attorney Eric S. Rosen told Judge Rya Zobel that Singer “[lied] about students’ ethnicities and other biographical information in an attempt to take advantage of perceived benefits from affirmative action and other programs.”
The case, which is the largest college admissions scam in the history of the U.S., has raised a lot of questions about affirmative action, specifically whether or not it should be abolished.

Should it be abolished? Yes. But why bother when you can nowadays self-identify as a shrubbery and check whatever boxes you feel like.
The whole system is corrupt, starting with affirmative action and going on from there.

I just read the excerpt, but based on what is in there, it looks like it is Yahoo itself that is doing it.

The scam was perpetrated so wealthy white parents could get around reverse racism in college admissions.
If your white kid can’t be admitted because his slot is going to some minority, game the system.
And people are shocked when people buck rules stacked against them.
I believe a couple of the scammers did change their race on the application.

No, we’re not, you liar. We are saying both ways of putting the thumb on the college admissions scales are wrong. It makes no difference to us whether it’s the government’s thumbs or the ones of wealthy elitists.
Because I’m against special treatment for minorities, in Yahoo’s mind, I’m racist. Got it.

Actually Title IX is a YUGE part of the scandal.
Even if they don’t have a scholarship offer, college coaches do have pull with admissions departments on getting kids admitted who can help their teams.
Schools are always struggling to come up with enough athletes for all of the women’s teams in order to satisfy the Title IX bean counters and keep the (revenue producing) men’s teams on the field.
Admissions people knew their coaches were overturning every rock for girl athletes, which opened the doors to this scam.
Affirmative Action is just another scam.
