McCain = a substandard pilot but his dad was an admiral. Otherwise he would have washed out. If the North Vietnamese had a sense of humor they would have given him the distinguished flying cross. They had no sense of humor.
McCain = a hero for the horrors he endured as a POW. Others will disagree but he was. You can break any man. Yes he did talk as did all the others. They were broken. For his time in captivity he was a very honorable man.
McCain = a total political snake with an ego the size of Jupiter and totally fixated on being president. He was also a vicious back stabbing liar and charlatan. In his own deluded mind he considered himself a patriot, he was not. He was a patriot until he ran for office and became a part of the corrupt culture of Washington DC.

Could somebody tell me WHY this slob McCain got a days long funeral capped with a laying in state at the Capitol? Few, including Presidents, have gotten this honor but it went on for days. I don’t denigrate his Vietnam service, my own family members were there in combat, but what exactly did this backstabber do to merit this type of national hagiography?
