Foxx’s call to Johnson came after an influential supporter of the “Empire” actor reached out to Foxx personally: Tina Tchen, a Chicago attorney and former chief of staff for former First Lady Michelle Obama, according to emails and text messages provided by Foxx to the Chicago Sun-Times in response to a public records request.
In an interview with the Sun-Times this week, Foxx said that the family member expressed concerns about leaked information about the investigation — information that media outlets attributed to “police sources.”
“They had no doubt about the quality of the investigation, but believed that the FBI would have a tighter lid on the information,” said Foxx, adding that Johnson initially seemed receptive to the idea of turning the case over the FBI.

No doubt. Kim Foxx, Mrs. Obama, Tchen and Fast Eddie would have loved to kept a lid on the TRUTH.

I tend to agree with your assessment. Smollett doesn’t seem to be the brightest bulb on the string if he did all of this on someone else’s say so. He’d really have to be dumb to go along with it though, because if he had help, they’ve left him spinning in the wind. No matter how he comes out at trial, he doesn’t have a career any longer because his “sit com” will have sailed without him! I’m just hoping he gets to experience “lessons” in “dropping the soap” in the Cook County slammer. Maybe his mother’s “good friend” Angela Davis can show him how to disappear.
And that is PROBABLY why little Jussie wanted to keep his phone records secure.
He had to protect Harris, Spartacus, heck, he may have even been talking to Hussein Obama about a MAGA setup. The brothers have to stick together.
This all leads me to wonder:
If Jussie and Barry ever did the nasty together, being of similar proclivities and floating in the same circles, geographically and politically..
