A college tennis coach who also served as the personal instructor for former first lady Michelle Obama and her daughter, Malia, was among the 46 people charged by federal authorities in a sweeping college admissions bribery case announced Tuesday.
According to the indictment unsealed Tuesday by federal prosecutors in Massachusetts, Gordon Ernst, the women’s tennis coach at the University of Rhode Island, is accused of conspiracy to commit racketeering during the years he served as a tennis coach at Georgetown University.
There is no suggestion that Malia, a sophomore at Harvard, was implicated in the scandal in any way.
Between 2012 and 2018, Ernst allegedly accepted more than $2.7 million in bribes in exchange for placing at least 12 students on the Georgetown tennis team, including “some who did not play tennis competitively,” according to the indictment.
Ernst allegedly received the bribes from charitable accounts set up by William Singer, the owner of a Newport, Calif.-based college consulting business at the center of the case.

I played tennis in high school but I became a ROTC jock in college because a war was going on and I needed skills that couldn’t be learned on the tennis court. My father played tennis with General Westmoreland in Vietnam, but I was at a different level as a Captain of Infantry.
My wife’s sorority sister had a daughter who was on the professional tour. I learned from both of these experiences that tennis “coaches” were socially acceptable with a decent game, but who really made their living from their association with rich and famous people. The pinnacle of my tennis career was standing at almost the top of the ladder at Ft. Benning and Ft. Bragg, but it didn’t last long. My reputation as a rifle company commander took me further along the career track.

Reversed in this special case. How much did Harvard pay Obama to get Malaria and what were the losings bids from the other Ivy League schools, Stanford, Northwestern, etc. and how was the payout laundered? They knew the cost would returned many times by glitterati parent bribes so their vapid offspring could party with the One’s.
The pity is that Obama’s daughters won’t get any kind of education, but will be used as props to promote those elite high faluting pinko institutions.
I suspect much like Chelsea Clinton, they will marry at a level to continue their lush lifestyle while being annointed by the MSM as brilliant at whatever they are doing.
Yeah probably so. Those kids might actually be very smart, but they are sentenced to being celebs for the rest of their lives and are also tainted with the Obama name. Through no fault of theirs.
