Dozens of economic studies have proven that idea is a myth.
ANYONE can change their operating schedule, without ANY kind of law anywhere dictating what time your clock should read. ANYONE can choose, independently, to call their “work-day”, 9:AM to 6:PM, instead of 8:AM to 5:PM, or 8:AM to 5:PM, instead of 9:AM to 6:PM, depending on their seasonal preference, and they can so inform their clients and vendors of that business choice of theirs. Clients and vendors who need to be “totally in-sync” with them might choose to do the same, and some may not if it is not so necessary for their operations.
Schools can do the same sort of thing.
But no one NEEDS to mess with the actual time of day.

Go for a half hour difference, and make it permanent.

I speak from the standpoint of having to get work done by a staff of experienced and educated engineering propessionals.
Daylight time is quite effective, and that is why it is being attacked. Dumping it is “Common Whore” time.
Everything functional in our system is under the same attack. Look in a mirror and say “Well Done Soros lacky.”

NO. It is being discredited because the evidence, in study after study, discredits it. Any gains at one end of the day, or one time of the year, are offset by negative effects on the other end of the day or time of the year. Due to the negative impacts of the change over days themselves, the NET ANNUAL change to the economy is negative. There is zero net proven productivity gain, no matter what myths people believe.

Adam Smith has long been considered the lead philosohper in the lineage of advocating what we know today as capitalism. Captialism and “free markets” - as Smith wrote - are not opposites, but both behaviors - as Smith wrote - of economic Liberty. Free markets in ownership of companies as well as things results in the necssary formation of capital - thus capitalism - upon which production and invention can progress.
