[Truncated headline] This is the original: A Native American tribe will cover the costs of the funerals for all of the Alabama tornado victims

(CNN)Often times the worst situations will bring out the best in people.
That's proving true once again, this time in southeastern Alabama, where residents are still reeling from an outbreak of tornadoes that killed 23 people this week.
But their loved ones won't have to worry, at least, about the costs of the funerals. A Native American tribe says it will cover the funeral and burial expenses for all the victims of Sunday's tornadoes. The Poarch Band of Creek Indians tribe will be making a $184,000 donation to cover the costs, Lee County coroner Bill Harris confirms to CNN.

Now I'm certain some of y'all will have something bad to say about the Creeks, but I thought that since none of you are donating money for the funerals, you should see what they're doing.

Is the tribe one that operates a local casino in the area? Not casting shade...but the article, (unless I click on it) does not say why the tribe is doing so. If they are loca to the area with a casino that employs many local people, then this makes perfect sense and a very nice gesture. Just wondering the connection.

WONDERFUL ACT OF KINDNESS.

The Muscogee, also known as the Mvskoke, Creek and the Muscogee Creek Confederacy, are a related group of indigenous peoples of the Southeastern Woodlands.Mvskoke (English: /məˈskoʊɡi/; Mvskoke [maskóːkî]) is their autonym. Their original homelands are in what now comprises southern Tennessee, all of Alabama, western Georgia and part of northern Florida.

Most of the original population of the Muscogee people were forcibly relocated from their native lands in the 1830s during the Trail of Tears to Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). Some Muscogee fled European encroachment in 1797 and 1804 to establish two small tribal territories that continue to exist today in Louisiana and Texas. Another small branch of the Muscogee Creek Confederacy managed to remain in Alabama and is now known as the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.

Not sure what this is about?

Very kind-hearted gesture of comfort and caring for families suffering the loss of loved ones.

A good form of propaganda - “the Red man cares more than the white man.” Didn’t a muslim group try this recently?

It’s probably just CNN’ s reporting style. It’s a nice gesture and good of the Creek people. Condolences to all families that lost relatives and neighbors.

"Now I'm certain some of y'all will have something bad to say about the Creeks, "

They upgraded their rain dance to a tornado dance?

It is a very nice gesture for them to pay for the funerals. Very touching.

The one (or possibly the only) thing I’ve heard a Tribe do that was not self-serving, rapacious, or downright greedy. Congratulations to them!

A native American or an aboriginal American? After all, anyone born here is a native American.
