Agree. My now departed Dad was a Navy Medic onboard during the Normandy Invasion. During the Carter, Clinton years, and even some of things involving GWB he often stated “ this is not the country “ I and others fought for, or even died for.

I used to know an American, WW2 vet that lived in Beijing. He worked for the ministry of translation for the PRC. A real communist, and apologist for the cultural revolution.
I think I saw a documentary on that guy. At the end of the Korean War a handful of GI’s decided to stay in China rather than repatriate. Most of them wised up and got out during the Cultural Revolution but this guy was all-in on Mao and stayed. Married and raised a bunch of kids, just passed away a couple of years back. He was from around here someplace....Vandergrift, PA I believe.
My dad was a WW 2 vet also. He passed in the 1980s & he was astounded how bad things were then in the culture....I doubt he could even begin to grasp what this nation has turned into these days.
There were lots (and lots) of leftists and outright communists in the military from 1941-1945.
And the intellectual and moral leaders that brought us globalism were mostly WW II veterans.
