House Democrats voted Friday to defend localities that allow illegal immigrants to vote in their elections, turning back a GOP attempt to discourage the practice.
The vote marks a stunning reversal from just six months ago, when the chamber — then under GOP control — voted to decry illegal immigrant voting.
“We are prepared to open up the political process and let all of the people come in,” Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia Democrat and hero of the civil rights movement, told colleagues as he led opposition to the GOP measure.
The 228-197 vote came as part of a broader debate on Democrats’ major legislative priority this year, HR 1, the “For the People Act,” which includes historic expansions of voter registration and access, as well as a major rewrite of campaign finance laws.
The measure would have had no practical effect even if it had passed. Illegal immigrants — and indeed noncitizens as a whole — are not legally able to participate in federal elections.

Forgive me for maybe I’m thinking about it too much but on one hand I’m hearing about the ongoing investigation of foriegn interference from “Russians”, but at the same time they want non citizens to take part in voting, what the hell is this, this makes no sense.
It is racist for us to make people from outside our borders to actually come here and be on our soil in order to vote in our state and federal elections. And receive all the goodness from our social welfare programs.
There aren’t enough ‘Poor and downtrodden’ people in the USA to keep Dems in office, so they have to import them.........................

The 2020 presidential election will be the seediest ugliest and probably most violent this country has ever seen.
The Left will have whole cemeteries voting in waves. The illegals will be driving from polling place to polling place, voting all day long. Ballots will be magically appearing everywhere. The Right will just sit and watch and say” gee, this sucks”, and watch the country be stolen from them forever.
Most American citizens do not want suffrage for illegal aliens, even Dems, one highly suspects.
They are voting for it, knowing full well it will never become law. They are playing to their far left base and are creating campaign ads for Republicans to use against them............................
