Israel’s acting foreign minister tried to defuse the diplomatic spat with Poland on Monday, but he is still refusing to apologize for his remarks last week regarding anti-Semitism in that country.
Warsaw has demanded an apology for Yisrael Katz’s statement that “the memory of the Holocaust is something we cannot compromise about, it is something clear and we won’t forget or forgive. Poles collaborated with the Nazis, and as [former prime minister] Yitzhak Shamir, whose father was murdered by Poles, said, ‘they suckle anti-Semitism with their mother’s milk.’”

I was not aware of any excessive levels of “Jew hate” in Poland.

A real Christian would not use that to make others bear the burden of his own sins, and a real jew would only bear other jews his own sins. This talk of not forgiving Poles is neither Christian nor Jewish.

Mike Pompeo expressed the opinion the other week that Mr. Katz should apologize for what he said about the Poles.
Well, I guess that isn’t happening anytime soon.
I think he’s talking about modern-day Poland, where anti-Semitism is virulent.

As best I understand it, he refers to the notion of Polish collaboration during WW II which Poland has denied to the point of outlawing it.
There was some Anti-Semitism in the historic past with the Polish regime pre-World War 2 and of course during the Russian rule of the country prior to that.
That kind of rhetoric must be for the American market because the Poles just love that kind of game, but here in America nice white lady GOP politics will bend over and smile and smile for such idiocy. OK I’ll throw in, should we put sanctions on Poland for their anti-semitism?
Poland has had great moments in her past — including saving western culture twice — 1683, when Sobieski turned back the Ottomans at Vienna; and the miracle battles of 1920 when the advancing Red Army was turned back at Warsaw.
However, during WWII, the truth is that a lot of Poles were as anti-semitic as the nazis. Some aided Jews to escape (honor to them), but many others did not. It was not the greatest period of Polish history, and it dishonored their own past.
There should be no problem in admitting it, expressing repentance, and moving on.
During the Polish uprising Polish Freedom fighters attacked the Warsaw camp and freed the Jews

Jan Karski was a Pole who literally tried to stop the Holocaust and is honored in Yad Vashem.
That doesn’t pardon other Poles who participated in the Holocaust directly or by denouncing hidden Jews to the Nazis, nor does it pardon today’s Law and Justice party who are openly co-operating with crazed anti-Semites in their fascist right wing support base, rewriting the history of the 20th century, and reviving centuries old anti-Semitic lies.

Very well put. Some Poles behaved magnificently and protected Jews at great risk to themselves. There are many Poles and Polish Catholic clergy who have been honored in Israel for their decency, heroism and sacrifices sheltering Jews from the Nazis. Yet it cannot be denied that many Poles as a rule disliked, did not trust and resented Jews habitually. There was endemic anti Semitism in Poland as there was throughout most of Europe. It made collaboration with the Nazis palatable for Poles. Sorry but it did happen.

The holocaust was a horror but Jews responded by building an oasis in the desert and they have like 30 nukes so the threat of their extinction if far less now.
They should revel in their success, and remember but not DWELL on the holocaust.
I rarely give a though to the 10 of MILLIONS of Christian s who have been killed.
