ABC News has obtained audio of former White House Chief of staff John Kelly during a Wednesday appearance at Duke University in which he revealed that would have worked for Hillary Clinton if she had won the White House.
During a Q&A session, Kelly was asked about a scenario in which Trump’s former Democratic rival had won the presidency and asked him to serve in her administration.
“If Hillary Clinton had called me, I would have done it,” Kelly said.
Kelly was also asked what advice he would give his successor Mik Mulvaney, to which Kelly quipped “run for it” to audience laughs, though he became more serious when he said that his successor should just tell President Donald Trump “what he needs to hear.”
ABC’s Celia Vargas reported on remarks Kelly made which also included some gentle jabs at former boss President Donald Trump including calling his tenure at the White House “the least enjoyable job I’ve ever had.” He also stressed, however, “it was the most important job I’ve ever had,” he said.
It doesn't surprise me that he would have served Hillary if asked. His focus has always been his career and his destiny.
He's done a lot of good things in his life but it isn't a "conservative vision" that drives him or all-consuming loyalty.
He has a lot of talent but needs to have a very strong superior to keep him going in the right direction.
Most generals are politicians first. In my career, I only met one general who wasn’t - and he retired as a one-star. An honest general is almost as rare as an honest congressman.

The problem is that he will sling little sarcastic insults towards Trump and will NEVER do the same to Hillary or Obama.
I can see right through his “non-political” act.
He’s a civilian. He can serve or not serve whoever he wants to.

I may be wroung but I believe Trump hires a lot of these bad people is because he could not get a honest person confirmed thru the Senate and some of it may be Trump likes to keeps his enemys real close I would bet if any otherincoming National Security Advised not named Kelly and had done the exact same things that Kelly did would all not lost there jobs or even been targeted what happened to the ideal of peaceful transition of power that the previous other 43 Presidents were afforded the Obama administration if we still write history as it happened will go down as nothing more than a criminal organization my god our President has not had one minute Sence his election that he can relax it’s like swaying flys you kill one two more come back

Do marines meet and plot to negate their superiors orders? Like Kelly, McMaster and Mattis met to do?
So you can’t see the difference in serving in the military under whomever is president and serving as a civilian in the WH under that president. Huge difference. I served in the military while Clinton was president and refused the standard presidential signed retirement certificate because I didn’t want anything with that a-holes signature on it. But I sure as hell wouldn’t have worked under him in the WH.
The timid little man would have worked for Hillary so he just did the job as if Hillary was his boss.
I make sure all the mirrors in my house...and there are only two...hang high enough so that they only show my face. I'd scare myself if they were hung any lower.
