H.R. 1, a massive voting rights/election security/campaign finance/ethics bill now making its way through the House of Representatives, would make "significant changes to the operation of federal elections by states," according to a summary produced by the Congressional Budget Office.
The bill does not allow 16-year-olds to vote, but Democrats are offering amendments that would do just that.
Reps. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) and Grace Meng (D-N.Y.) introduced their amendments Tuesday night before the House Rules Committee. Both lawmakers pointed to the activism of young gun control advocates as one of the reasons for lowering the voting age:

Well, just like gun control, it's just a common sense thing to do. SRSLY? What fidiots. They should be raising the age limit to like 28 or 32.

The voting age, drinking age, and draft age should all be the same.

We fought this battle back in the 60’s when 18-year olds were being drafted but were not allowed to vote.
Legislation to give them the vote was found UNCONSTITUTIONAL. It took a Constitutional Amendment to give the vote to 18-year olds.
Democrats know NOTHING of history. Even if it is relatively recent.

The ironically named “Democrats” do anything and everything they can to thwart our election process.

If this happens they’ll put everyone over age 30 into concentration camps and feed us LSD.

So they want to raise the age for legal firearms acquisitions to 21 but lower the age to vote to 16. This does not compute.

The voting age should be the oldest, followed by drinking and then the draft.
Maybe the military would make so many that aren’t mature enough AT ALL to vote, mature enough.
Not sure why being old enough to serve should mean old enough to vote.
not sure what correlation drinking has to do with the others.

But, wait! I thought they said we have to raise the age for buying a rifle to 21, because people younger than that are irresponsible?

Yep!
And if they can vote, then what's to stop them from lowering the age back down in order to buy "black rifles"
Or "post retirement abortions"
Liberals are intrinsically stupid and venal creatures.

In response to your thoughts, I believe the drinking age of 21 was questioned when there were kids younger than that in the Army getting killed when they had no vote on the war.
Doesn’t excuse the talk now.
16 drink in public, 18 own a firearm, but only taxpayers vote as curated by the new IRS

Just reading the headlines of FR posts ... everything has gone nuts.. they’ve lost their minds.. and have no idea on anything.

Or own land. But then, that would require taxes.

Going "old school" I like it! Of course to liberals that just means "sales tax" so illegals could vote just because they bought a snickers bar.
The Founders had a different understanding of "taxpayers".
