Republican. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky revealed this week that there are at least 10 Senate Republicans who will betray President Donald Trump and vote against his national emergency declaration.

While speaking at the Southern Kentucky Lincoln Day Dinner late Saturday, Paul said that he couldn’t “vote to give extra-constitutional powers to the president.”

Cruz and Lee always talk a good game but they’re mostly worried about their own careers.

Yep. And who did Cruz hire when his campaign was flatlining? Neil Bush!

everywhere I go, at least 8 of 10 people are foreign born and speaking their native language

I spent half a day in one part of London and didn’t see a single Englishman. Not a one. I am sure is the same in parts of California.

The people of Arizona did not elect mcsally we rejected her and for some reason our governor appointed her rather than appoint a real conservative.

That’s not exactly true, but they are picking the wrong hill to die on, for sure. They seem to be saying that they are concerned about a slippery slope, as we all should.

The Constitutional issue is just a smoke screen to oppose POTUS and please the big money open borders GOP donor class. Follow the money on this one. No brainer.

2/3 of Senate(67 Votes) needed to override Presidential VETO. 60 is NOT number.

The President just needs to veto it and make it clear that he will support primary opponents against any Republican who votes to override his veto. But it won’t get that far because the override will never pass the House and will never be voted on by the Senate. These are just the usual brats mouthing off.

I suggest you start looking at this through a LOCAL LENS. I know you escaped to the beautiful state of Kentucky. And I hope that you never have to face the day to day dangers that illegals bring on many, if not most, Americans. But remember, all politics is local. And when your normal everyday world gets forever changed by illegals - don’t forget to laugh.

I’m laughing in a sort of Schadenfreude sort of way.

i.e. in a democracy you not only get the government you want. You get the government you deserve.

And to all I say, put your faith in Christ, not in the things of this age (that includes politics). The solution is prayer, not rallies.

To be clear, I don’t believe it will get all that bad where I live, because the blue states and cities are my area’s canary in the coal mine.

If it gets that bad in my neck of the woods, the cities will be right out of Road Warrior.

And you are right about it being local, which is why I left Seattle. And I’ve not regretted it for a second.

The clear implications of the language in Article I, Sec. 10 of the Constitution, makes it very clear that the Founders would have seen the present condition as a true emergency. See this particular passage:

No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.

Will anyone argue that forcing Texas into a new war with Mexico, because of Federal failure to act, would not constitute a National emergency? Let's push the point across the internet!!

...all I see is fit military age men.

Precisely.

Able bodied and military age in that photo without exception. Somebody's idea of a long range prep squad with each about to get driver licenses, networking, financing Including tax-payer funds, and help building and training their cells - their arms are already in-theatre.

Meanwhile, Washington, DC dithers.

F the republican party.

Easy, pal, unless you have a viable and ready replacement. There is no doubt we are witnessing live R traitors, but the R party is the last civilized vehicle we have access to. At this point, there is no discernable discomfort; it is a soft revolution and we have not yet had enough betrayal to go uncivilized.

If that’s The way they want to be then Trump needs to cancel and end all open Executive orders that are not his.

The villain is Paul Ryan for not addressing the problem when the 'pubs had the House majority.

That is the GOP for you. I agree.

President Trump is complicit in that he signed that horrible Ryan budget that didn't include the wall.

He can only play the cards he is dealt and the GOP did not deal him the cards (point 1). I don't fault him for having to sign that one. He was in a no-win situation and necessary to live to fight another day.

Why didn't the 'pubs do this to Obama's Executive Orders? I'll answer my own question....because they don't really care about the issues on which they campaign.

Exactly! Exactly correct.

And why would Ted Cruz be on the list instead of John Cornyn?

I'm thinking this is a vote trade between Cruz and Cornyn. As a member of pubbie leadership no way can Cornyn vote against the open borders the donor base paid for. Conversely, Cornyn can't get re-elected in 2020 if he doesn't vote to uphold President Trump's emergency order to close the border.

Cruz just got reelected last year so he's safe for five years and needs to accumulate some brownie points with leadership. The open borders crowd won't hold Cornyn's vote against him as long as the border wall gets scuttled. Pretty slick, huh.

Yes, Texas needs to protect its own. Our 4 trillion dollar corrupt stasi state can’t be bothered to do the one thing they should be doing as mandated by the Constitution, protecting the states from invasion.

But do not overlook the point of the Section as part of a winning argument, which we need to bang away with.
