Jerusalem (AFP) - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that Israel and Russia are to form a joint team to examine the withdrawal of foreign forces from Syria.
Israel is seeking the removal of Iranian forces and has vowed to keep its main enemy from entrenching itself militarily in the neighbouring country.
Netanyahu met Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday in Moscow to discuss Iran's presence in Syria.
"I made it unequivocally clear that Israel will not allow the military entrenchment of Iran in Syria, and I also made it unequivocally clear that we would continue to take military action against it," Netanyahu told his cabinet.
"President Putin and I also agreed on a common goal: the withdrawal of foreign forces that arrived in Syria after the outbreak of the civil war. We agreed to establish a joint team to advance this goal, together with other elements."

And unlike a certain leader who showed him disrespect in a certain house in Wash. D.C., when this Netanyahu points to a red line then he will back it up, by the grace of God. The U.S. should back him up in unequivocally saying the same.
Israel needs to keep a keen eye on the Iranians....and the Russians. Smart move on their part.
Hopefully, Trump will try to make this a threesome, even if it means working with Putin. With some diplomacy and luck, they might be able to bring Syria into this.
Unlikely. Israel wants Iran gone. Russia wants Turkey and US gone.
Interesting.

One simple move -- dumping the Kerry/Obama surrender document to Iran -- has led us to this, and will lead to the denouement.
Putins been on a world tour of sorts over the past few months (again) garnering deals all over the map. Recently Madurojust announced he's moving Venezuelan state oil (Lisbon) European Head Quarters to Moscow so Putins certainly on the go go.
..................
Possibly so but difficult today to know if news reports are factual or not. However Putin will go to whatever means he can to secure his investments in other countries, especially when they are threatened..relocating Maduor’s oil Company headquarters to Moscow would put Putin in control of what goes on.....and he is very hands on his oil revenues and as much now any business entities decisions in Russia now.
I think we should have tried to rent the island Maduor allowed Russian SS bombers to base at, and offered safe-keeping for the gold, in exchange for reforms.
Or at least protested Putin to keep out of the Western hemisphere. When we have NATO it may seem duplicitous to do so, but Stalin-honoring, Christian persecuting egotistical Putin needs to be exposed outright as the aggressor that he is, justifying the reason for keeping him out.
Rather than taking advantage of Russian weakness, after the fall of the Soviet Union US defense spending went down, and trade was going on.
But Putin dreams of the former “glory,” and builds up his forces, and invades the Crimean Peninsula, thus provoking a NATO build up in response, and then uses that as an excuse to further build up his forces.
