That sounds like Sears Catalog shopping 100 years ago only at lighting speed. I think grocery delivery was common years ago too but you would have had to go and fill the order yourself.

That 15 dollars an hour wage thingie has caused massive job losses

They were told that would happen, but did it anyway.

The mall is a dying business model. It’s being killed by online shopping. Just as the mall killed the central business district. Cyclical, man. Like Mark Twain said “ history does not repeat itself. It does, however sometimes rhyme “.

Whoever can come up with a way to "try on" clothes online will be the next Bezos and will drive the last nail into the retail coffin.
Apparently you haven't been to Amazon lately. They already have a 7 day "try on" policy.

Zappos has been great for ordering and trying on shoes.

Shoes are about the only thing I generally need to try before I buy.

back in the early nineties we had a guest from the Dominican republic. She told us how one could never go to the film shows because they were hoodlum hangouts.

we were then amazed

Now that is happening here.

My grandmother and great grand mother always sent in their grocery orders to be delivered. My great sent a note in the morning, my grand called in her order. Both charged it and there was a monthly grocery bill.

Crazy isn’t it? A girl bragged to me she spent 100 dollars on a bra.. I told her that is half a car payment, but at least it wasn’t as expensive as her 140 dollar purse. She was over 23.
Women at my church actually talk about retail therapy.. I just talk about cars, beautiful places and people in need.

I have a different mall experience. I’ve been living in a hotel ( between houses) for the past month and there is a large indoor mall nearby. I go there often to hang out while the maids are cleaning. Bring my laptop or a good book to read and sit on one of the many couches and chairs they now have there. Free wi-fi. I’ll spend hours there sipping coffee and reading. Nobody hassles me. Don’t know how the stores there stay in business but it’s a pleasant place to hang out.

Now you can buy Teslas on-line.

Who actually needs to see the car they are buying or take a test drive? Most people buy cars as if they are appliances anyway.

They say you can simply return the car for a full refund if you don’t like it (up to 7 days and 1000 miles).

I thought the car dealership lobby made that impossible. I wonder what changed?

A few years ago, I was at a downtown open market in Columbia, SC. It is called Soda City.

Anyway, reps from a local roller derby team had a booth. It was sort of making a comeback then. I didn’t follow up.

Stores that once were the darlings of the young and cool tend to age with their generation. Vicky’s secret is now a middle aged store and the young look elsewhere to be cool

I found their bras to be constructed of inferior materials: Very itchy and scratchy.

Well, when multiple generations were convinced “why try”, the girls dress like truckers so there’s no need for Vickies Secret.

“I thought the car dealership lobby made that impossible. I wonder what changed?”

There article is a bit dated, but gives a general idea of how internet sales are handled in states that have the dealership laws.
